Good sh!t .

I heard blown cars have lots of oil pressure resulting in rear valve cover leaks that continues even with PCV replacement. Anybody experience that?

Nice... For some reason on ThinJim's car the J-pipe was touching the oil-pan and he had to do modify the oil-pan slightly. Could be just tolerances because even if his Comptech manifold was off by 1/8", it can easily cause this.

In any case ThinJim did an awesome install-job; took his time and did it the right way!

av6ent = won't have any issues with head cover leaking, between the pvc valve on one head cover and a breather hose connecting to the air cleaner, no issues.

stypecl = don't have any idea on 1/4 mile time, maybe oneday I'll know

clsleeper = let me know

Hey Ram, good to see you drop by. Your kit is in good hands and has much potential. You should make this kit for anyone who is interested.

On that valve-cover leak question: I drove a decent # of miles with the kit including a bit of hard driving and no leaks whatsover. The worst thing is you might suck some blow-by from the crank-case vent when doing a lot of high-rpm runs, but that's about it! A catch-can will
prevent that as well.

The catch can may be an option in the distant future, in the meantime I'm going to experiment with a different method of fuel control for tuning. More to come on that later. Next week I'm getting the exhaust opened up from the cat back and also replacing the cat with a test pipe. There are several things to do differently from your setup then off to the dyno.

*
If you notice the downpipe and the shine to it, I had it and the manifolds ceramic coated at a local area shop. They use the same process and materials as Jet Hot and it was at a fraction of the cost. They did have a more expensive coating that they claim retains heat better, but it didn't look as good. It was flat black it didn't seem as durable as the silver coating. This coating won't discolor at all and the engine bay does not get as hot as it would normally. I also wrapped a portion of the downpipe where it makes the bend by the front crossmember.
*
I know what you mean by feeling slow, I felt the same way after I removed the SC several months back.

I have to ask you, about how much did this run you, I cant figure out if I want to get a ct s/c, try the 3.5L conversion or get a turbo and custom make it to work, but i have no idea about how much that would run me, i know the s/c is going to be around 4K-5K installed, the 3.5L conv. around-4k-5k installed, but i dont know about the turbo. thanks

.....I'm guessing between 7-9k depending on what parts you plan to use. I just had one made for my car.

Hey, that system looks familiar!! Very clean install. I like the ceramic coating. And I still need to make a heat shield! Taking the car for a 350 mile drive tomorrow, I am looking forward to it! Anyhow, congrats and lets see a 419+ whp dyno pull !!

Thanks Blue, although you and Ram are the architecture behind this setup, I took it and put a couple personal touches on it. Rams holding the 419whp tuning map for emanage and I'm still shopping for a laptop to extract this map and see the settings. Ram can you send me a map to study on my desktop while without a laptop? The purple box is a mystery to me too. One of the awesome characteristics of this setup is under normal everyday driveing, I can still get 23-29 MPG, as it's not always under boost like the SC and isn't belt driven which can rob fuel mileage.

Only thing I can think off that purple would be the Zex control unit or Tec3r. I don't believe he ended up using the "purple box" on his setup but I could be wrong.

I'm guessing it's similar to the piggy-back engine control computer for those who drag their RX-7s (PFS Purple Computer) - i believe it controls boost, timing, and fuel; sold by PFS.

Old buddy of mine had that on his RX-7 and switched over to the HKS EVC 4 afterwards.

ThinJim - am i right?
