Getting Rims ...tire?

Whats up all...

I'm going to be getting some 18s that come with low pro tire package.

The three that they can ship it in are

225/40/18 or 235/40/18 or 215/35/18

Which do you guys think I should get?

Thanks for the advice all!!!!!

Get 235/40/18s. I believe they're the closest to the stock's rolling diameter from the ones you mentioned.

Well to keep rolling diameter as close to stock as possible you should go with 235/40/18, but I don't know if you'll have problems with that tire on a 7.5" wide wheel. Check if the wheel comes in 18X8.

The 235 will probably rub. I know of people with the stock rims on 235's and a comptech drop that rub the back. On a 7.5 inch rim, i think you will rub. I would go with 225/40. 215/35 is too small and too thin. I hope you have good roads, because where i live i bent an 18 inch rim on 225/40.

unfortunatly they dont have the 18x8...I would like to get a slightly wider wheel, but oh well.

Smitty,

If all else fails, I'll get better tires (like the ones you had mentioned )

I'll have to check the offset again, cant remember..I'm still at work and my brain is slightly fried due to actually doing work.

Bigman,
Yeah the roads in Stockton and the commute zone of livermore are pretty good

Nice rim choice!

I would advise sticking with a 18x7.5" rim and 225-40/18 tire size max to eliminate the risk of rubbing. With my Comptech drop, I had minor rubbing in both front wheel wells when making 90 degree turns where the road surface was just slightly irregular with 235-45/17 Toyos on my 17x8" SSRs. I had to drop down to 225-45/17 Toyos to eliminate the rubbing.

Hope you can make the next Sacramento meet on July 13th.

Just make sure

Just make sure if you go with the Bridgestone Potenza SO3's you order them 3 months ahead of schedule, those tires go quick from the tire rack.... I spoke with Larry from the tire rack when I was ordering mine and he kept me updated on the status.. 173 a piece was a good price but I had to wait a month before I seen the meats... and the Tirerack had over 50 other customers that were waiting for those tires.. 6 of which were Larrys customers. larry claimed the tires were in high demand and Bridgestone just does not produce them like they should... So be Fore-warned my friend...

I'm with Hammer, go with the 225-40s on the 18x7.5s and bring that bad boy to our meet on July 13th.
