Getting CL back/have to return '06 TL

Well after only a couple of months I had to get a new tranny for my '01 CL-S (60k miles). The Acura dealer here let me use an '06 TL with navigation and XM while my CL was being repaired.
Today I expect to get my car back and of course, give them back the TL. Yea, the TL is a nice car, but damn that's a lot of money for a car that just didn't blow me away.
I don't mean to offend any TL owners here, but for that kind of money there are a lot of other modes of transportation out there that would satisfy my needs as well or better than the TL. Not to mention that the premium gas issue is kind of a drag.
The dealership sales manager called me yesterday to tell me he had just taken an '04 TL with a 6-speed tranny. I told him I'm not interested. Btw, the sales manager is a friend of mine.

Interesting. I would have thought completely different. BTW, you do use premium in the CL right?

The TL costs about what the CLS did and has more features. I see very few, if any, sedans out there that can match the TL in value. It's sporty and has lots of techy features. That's why it's the top selling near-lux sedan. THe CLS uses premium gas too. I prefer coupes but the TL is a great package. overall. IMO.

What do you see out there that is better AND cheaper??

I won't be able to agree with that. Shit, I like the interior of the TSX. The TL to me is the one car I would love to have right now. Best balance of price, looks, comfort and performance I've seen in a while.

I'm not a fan of the 3rd Gen TL's. They are ok, but I wouldn't buy one. Take my CL over one any day! But cool you had one for a loaner.

Different strokes for different folks. I am currrently driving a 06 TL loaner and I love it, everything about is perfect to me. The smooth shifting tranny, lovely interior, stance that is just right, the handling....... I could go on but it'll just get me depressed. Ever since the first tranny went (44,000 miles) and they gave me a 05 TL, I've been trying to find reasons to bring it back. Maybe in a few years.............

I have a CLS just like you...But my question is show me a car in the same price range that has all the features the 06/TL Navi has. You won't find one.

shit A 04 TL 6 speed Nav was what I really wanted, but I coudld only find that combo in white with tan interior like 45 mins away from where i live and i didnt like that color, they my CL poped up for $8 grand cheap with 6 speed Nav SSM Black interior so i had to do the math on if i was willing to pay $8 grand more for a car just for its features so i took the Cl with the smaller nav screen and without voice command and blue tooth. I assume that though the TL have 10 more HP than our CL's that with the weight factor they are both pretty much even when it comes down to performance???

Damn! It appears I got some folks' panties in a wad. Sorry!
To those of you ridiculing me for my statements on the '06 TL, you might want to re-read my post. I stated that there are other cars for less money that would fulfill MY, not your, driving needs. I simply said that to ME the TL costs a hell of a lot of money. To ME, the TL felt heavy and not nearly as nimble as my CL. It also had (in MY opinion) way too many techno-gizmos that I (read "I") do not desire in a car. Hell, one day while driving to work my hand accidentally hit a button on the steering wheel and a voice from the car said "Pardon?" I mumbled something out loud and the voice once again said "can you repeat that?" I just don't have the desire to own a car that talks back to you. I want a car that likes to be driven, not argued with!
As far as the hyundai comment, well it doesn't even qualify a response.
Thanks.

To say that a TL with or without 6 speed is not worth the price seems odd. So many standard features on the 06 models. Looking at any other brand you'd be hard pressed to find that out there. Get the 6 speed and you're adding nice Brembo brakes and a LSD and an extra gear. I'm happy with my CL... but the TL is a very nice car and a good value for the money.

The orig post is in the minority here. I I had to get a sedan it would be the TL. Closest thing to my CLS 6MT in sedan form. I've driven both (6speeds) and the TL was very similar but I ike the feel of the CL better but they weigh about the same.

123456SPEED, I don't mind being the minority here. Having a different opinion is what makes the world go round, right?
I'm simply saying that the TL is more car than I need or want. I'm perfectly happy with my '01 CL-S. I NEVER said the TL wasn't a great car; it's just way too much money to pay for how little it moved "me." That's not to say that it shouldn't move anyones else here.
Here are a couple of modes of transportation that "move me."

Makes sense, I can understand prefering to spend $ on other things besides a TL.
I guess the disconnect for me is the main feature of the TL is it's value over it's competition, that made it the best seller in it's class.

HEY HE IS ALLOWED TO HAVE AN OPINION. I PERSONALLY DONT LIKE THE TL. THAT IS WHY THEY MAKE KORE THAN JUST ACURAS IN THIS WORLD. SOME PEOPLE DONT LIKE CERTAIN CARS. I LOVE MY CL AND I LIKE THE RL. THE OTHER ACURAS I DONT REALLY CARE FOR.

only thing i'd REALLY love to have that the TL has that the CL doesn't beside the brembos, is 5.1 audio system
5.1 CDs are so great to listen to in the TL !

but i'd rather have $10Kcad in my bank account instead. (OK make that 8K after i get BBK)

I don't know if it is in my head, but I feel as if the TL may handle better than the CL-S. The handling seems more firm and less bouncy. Makes me realize how badly i want some coilovers.

then why did you say the premium gas issue was a drag? it made everyone that responded to this thread think that you don't use premium gas in your CL-S...

I don't understand the point you're trying to make
I don't see how the statement I made about using premium fuel could be misconstrued in any way. Perhaps I'm just old, tired, over-worked and missing something.

it's not big deal, but when you said the premium gas issue was a drag with the TL, it made it seem like it was a drag only because you don't use premium gas in your CL, hence the more money you'd have to spend on gas. to a person reading your first post, it would seem that it wouldn't be an issue at all if you were already putting premium gas in your CL to begin with that's all...

Sorry Z1/CL, but its true. what you said and how you said it would lead pretty much anyone to believe that you dont use premium in your CL-S..saying that having to put premium in car is a drag (which is what u said) would make me think (and it did) that you dont use premium in your CL-S. me, personally, have used premium in every one of the cars ive owned (an audi 90 and two acura legends), it helps your car to perform better and is better for the engine so it lasts longer in the end.

Well I'm going to agree with the poster that said the TL isn't worth the money. When I look at my CL S I think she's a sexy beast. The TL is sweet too, but it looks cheaper. It doesn't look like a luxury car anymore. Upon driving it...it drives like a basic rental car (the model I had). The hottest feature was the navigation (which I have in my CL) and the bluetooth (which I also have in my CL after market), and it handled a hell of a lot better. I've lost control in my CL before when I first got it...trying to race a fckng Audi A8, or something that looks like an A4 but kicked my ass especially when we hit a turn...it was lights out. lol. Lucky I wheeled the sht out of the car and managed to do a 180 degree turn and just scuff my bumper though I was facing oncoming traffic. Wow I got side tracked.

Anyway...the TL just felt cheaper. What are all these features everyone is talking about. Did they get the fckng transmission issues fixed in the 06 TL? That's the only way I'd buy one. Even then I'm real skeptical about Honda/Acura now.
