omg, $6200? Thats freakin' insane. You are getting totally screwed. If you're still a "dependent", you should sell the car to your parents, and get your insurance as a secondary driver under their policy. If not, change companies, at least shop around for quotes. I'd probably get rid of my car if I was wasting that much money on insurance. Its a 4door sedan for crying out loud. $6200 would be enough for me to insure the TL-S, a used sports car, and probably buy a big screen HDTV. You're getting hosed

If you are financing your tl-s and paying your insurance (516/month ins + car payment say 600), you could actually lease a 911 and be a secondary driver.

dude, Geico has all kinds of crazy stories like this. They are bad news. A few years ago Car and Driver used to have a monthly colum about Geico woes. They will take you back for some "extra" money. The did all kinds of crazy shit.

Geico is the devil.

fuck geico, their commercials make them out to be your friend yet they rape most of their customers.

shit 6200 a year is a lot. I had a friend that had a DWI and he only payed 3000 a year so that tells ya something about the company. Shop around.

GEICO is like an exclusive club, they depend on good members to keep their rates low(er). Insurance companies don't have to insure anyone/everyone. I believe they are harder on younger people. You said you've had two moving violations? That's probably enough...what were they?

I've been with GEICO since 1985.

i was paying $7500 a year for my CL

$627 a month , and it was about to go up even higher with the added tickets i got

my license has been suspended for 9 months now, and today is the day i get it back!!!!!!!! september 6!!!!!

my CL is gone, and i'll be buying a beater car soon. slow and affordable.

i'll be able to get liability ONLY insurance instead of paying full coverage like for my CL

those who know me can verify this

USAA is so awesome. I am 16 and insured under all of our vehicles except our Chevy truck, its a company car and i only pay like 2000 a year. That is with safe driver discount, good student discount, drivers-ed discount and all that other stuff.

$6200/year?

I'd take a fucking bus.

Some of you people must either eat peas and rice just to be able to insure your car or money isn't an option.

But if money wasn't an option, why are you driving a CL/TL???

Yeah, driving is a privledge, but I'd sure as hell wouldn't be driving a car that cost me over $500/month to insure. No tax deductions. Nada.

Crap... I sound like JimCol...

USAA is military/gov employee and their families only though, so unless you gots the in you cant get it. But if you do like so many of us its well worth it. Theyve never done me wrong, and ive used them a lot. And USAA can be pricey like everyone, but best service.

USAA--- very true about good service, i helped a relative out moving a car cross country on a trailer after being garaged for 3 years.

It took one phone call and they insured the f-150(dealer truck which is not insured to tow normaly), a trailer, and a 65 mustang. In about 3 minutes.

definetly check with progressive...I'm 22 and since 97 i've had 1 speeding ticket, 2 accidents that were my fault (including the tickets to go along w/ them) and in the 2nd accident i totalled my accord.

After i totalled the car and got the CL, my insurance went from $150 a month to $180, which is alot considering it used to be like $125 when i first got my accord back in 97.

you can also try Allstate...but i wouldnt recommend them, i tried to get insurance through them because i would have received an employee discount and it still came out to more than i was paying w/ progressive...plus they told me since the car wasnt in my name they couldnt give me an insurance policy in my name.

good luck!

Ok... I'm in NY too and I'm 23 I had Windsor because either no one else would touch me or my premium woulda been about $8 grand or more a year. I have 3 accidents in 3 years (2 I was not at fault) and although my license is clear of points the ins. co. sees points for 40 months so i have 8pts as far as they are concerned. I paid $3200 for 6 months with Windsor then I got a "Priority Quote" letter from Progressive (Priority Quote?!? :sqnteek: with my record LOL) but sure as shit I'm now only payin $2100/6 months and soon to go lower cuz I'm moving to West Palm Beach in January -- basically theres no way u should be paying close to as much as I was unless ure record is worse than stated. Go take Defensive Driving and did you take Drivers Ed in high school? those could be reasons. But you should def shop around or at least ask them if they will kiss you while they you

You're getting reamed. I pay 1500/yr. I'm 24, car under my name, and i am driving a 2003 cl-s. However, I have no accident history, no traffic history, shit load of discounts, and drive less than 6000 miles a year. btw, I'm also under Geico.

Geico is also NOTORIOUS for giving Radar and Laser speed detectors away to state police departments.
All in the name of “public safety” of course.

I do know that other insurance companies do this too, but they are the most vocal about it.

I would NEVER support their company with my money.

I am with Progressive for now, but will be switching to Liberty Mutual in October. I pay $2,700 per year, but that will change to $1,500 per year. I have 2 speeding tickets in NH, according to Liberty Mutual. And, I'm 30 years old.

There are many factors that go into pricing your car insurance--other than your driving history!

One that I was not aware of until my last policy renewed was your credit score! Aparently, if you don't pay your bills, insurance companies think you're a higher risk! (just an assumption since I was told that my credit score effected the change in my premium (downward this time). If you've ever looked at your credit report, you will see that your car insurance company will periodically pull your credit report--especially when you start the poilcy or when you make changes (like lowering your deductible).

But, because I have been in the Washington DC area for more than 15 years and lived in the city, in the VA burbs, the MD burbs, and also lived in Baltimore, the actual zipcode of where you live effects the rate (Geico told me this long ago). Areas like Baltimore, Philadelphia and NYC have the highest rates in the country (again told by Geico).

Plus I have heard that since 9-11, all insurance companies are very sensitive to claims information and are dropping people at alarming rates. I've read that this happens with car insurance, homeowners insurance, and general liability insurance.

Unfortunately, it looks like the cards were stacked against you and you may have to look for one of those high-risk insurance companies (Like Gebco).

y'all don't got it as bad as me.

in the past 3 yrs of driving, i have spent $40k on Insurance.

and I got dropped this year, they won't even cover me anymore...in fact, NOBODY will.

I will not be driving a vehicle registered to me, for the next 3 years.

can you honestly say it was worth paying 40 grand to have car insurance for 3 years?? damn dude, you must wipe your ass with 100 dollar bills to be able to brush that off like its nothing. youre an older guy too arent you? out of your 20s if i remember. you must have a really low amount of self control behind the wheel...either that or bad luck!! what gives man??

Geico is a Ass along with state Farm. Any time you get something that messes up ur record a bit u get droped. I know plenty of people that get into a accident and they get a good bye letter. I still get a sucky rate at State Farm, $5200 per year. But they keep me after an accident. Hopefully me turning 25 this year will help me a lot. PLEASE!!!!
