Gear Shift Problem

I know this may be a long shot and I refuse to take my 02 CL to the dealer for a simple fix.

Yesterday I came home and was sitting in the driveway finishing up watching a dvd. I got bored and decided to put my rear spoiler back on. After that and I dont know if it has anything to do with anything but now my car won't go into gear without using the shift lock release. I checked all the fuses and they are fine.

Mind you, I have the dvd bypass on the car and even if I hit the switch I can't get a picture. Does this sound like a tranny issue or just a popped fuse or reverse bulb?

Any help will be appreciated.

Sounds like the brake switch. Have someone push the brakes to see if the brake lights are working

Actually, I just tried it and my brake lights are out. Normally when you hit the brakes you can hear the click at the gearshift but now I can't. Is there a fuse for the brake lights? I looked at all three fuse boxes and nothing. Where would the brake switch be located?

mine went bad already...

I went and picked up a brake switch and changed it over and nothing, still not working. Could it be when I put the spoiler on theres a chance the wires touched and I blew a tail light bulb. Im gonna try that in the morning.

Its bugging me and I cant drive it without brake lights. Guess I may end up taking it to the dealer.

My guess is that you touched wires and blew the brake lite fuse, that would cause your problems.
