this morning my girlfriend drove around to 6 gas stations before she could even get gas, they were all sold out. the one place that did have gas was raising the price every 10 minutes, and there was a line down the block.
this is bullshit. the gas supply line breaks, so now the few gas stations get to charge whatever they want. maybe its a conspiracy.

a supply line that gets 30% of the gas into Phoenix is busted. there was still enough supply for normal demand, but all the idiots here ran to the pumps with gas cans to fill up everything they could as soon as they heard the news. there was enough for NORMAL demand, but not for hordes of morons filling up every container they have. so now theres no gas here, and all the gas stations on the west coast are going to raise prices.

$1.93 for 93 octane here in Northwest Chicago Suburbs. You guys act suprised! I don't thing George W Bush and Dick Cheny mind high oil prices at all. In fact, they probably support them!
This kind of blows some holes in their policies though. Not much sense drilling in ANWAR when we basically own Iraq. And last Friday, GWB offered up two Residential resolutions.
1: Any Iraqi oil imported into the US. US oil companies CAN NOT be sued if they pollute the land or waterways in the US.
2: We will take any and all Iraqi oil and sell it on the open market to recover money owed to Haliburton (former CEO: Dick Cheny), which now amounts to some $651,000,000 until the bill is paid off. By the way, that $651M was ill gained. Companies were to bid on the contract to rebuild Iraq, but once again, Dick and his buddies pulled a fast one, which we will pay for in high energy prices.
Naw, I don't think the Resident or the Vice Resident are making one thin dime off of this stuff. By the way, last year for the gas grill, 20# of propane was $8.53. Today I paid $16.14. My $44 every two months (I am on a budget billing plan) has gone to $86 for gas for the condo.
The oil companies restrict supply in order to keep prices high. In fact, the supply is kept at about 95-98% of demand. That way they can control the prices.
And if you think that this is bad, I am predicting that we will see electricity rise by about 25-33% in the next year at the consumer level. Just as soon as the Oval office figures how to pull the wool over the publics eyes. Of $20,000,000 contributed by energy companies to political campaigns in the 2000 elections, two thirds of this went to the Republicans (source: Rush Limbaugh.)
My Dad had one job in his entire life. He worked for Com Ed (now Excelon) in Illinois for 51 years straight. He built large scale power lines and distribution grids. And yes, these things have to be maintained. But it is mostly in the controls, software, switches, transformers and the physical structures that hold the wires. Figure that if the government says that they need $50,000,000,000 to straighten out this mess, that $5,000,000,000 is really needed and the rest will be profit in the form of graft.
I am oversimplifing the problem here, but when was the last time you had to maintain a WIRE in your car?
If anybody here can't figure out why energy prices are high, I can draw you a picture.

there is no price gouging law in arizona. most states have it, but not here. according to napolitano you have to report it to the attourney general of the US, not of the state.
napolitano gets campaign contributions from the company that supplies the gas to phoenix, so now she is covering their asses.
maybe we can get this that lesbian napolitano recalled like grey davis. shes terrible.

$2.03/ gallon for 92 Octane.
You know what really sucks? The fact they up the prices on the gas currently in the ground tanks at the station. I would expect to see the higher prices after they come in to refill the stations. The minute a crisis anywhere occurs they jack the price up. I swear some of the station owners just have all the news stations on 24/7 with their fingers crossed some tanker sinks, a war starts or a pipeline bursts.

CLSter: Congratulations! You may have cracked the code.
Here in Chicago is the drill:
After Sunday dinner, the cost of gas goes down, maybe 4, 5%.
It stays that way, until:
You buy gas again, Wednesday night. Now, it is up to what it was last week, plus, maybe, a little more. $1.93 for premium, right now.

there were lines at gas stations all the way into the street at 1:30AM tonight... I finally found a couple stations in NE Mesa (on Higley) that had gas with no major lines but they only had 87 octane and I paid $2.09 for that.
I hope they're working 24/7 to get that friggen pipe fixed

I got lucky this morning. I got 10 gals this morning and I waited 15mins and paid 2.15 for premium. I am not driving my car any more unless it's an emergency.
