Gas mileage
Thats awfully wierd... I did notice that around town the car gets horrible gas mileage, but I drove from Modesto, CA to Reno, NV and back on a full tank, and when I got home, filled up again, and I got 31.5 miles per gallon... and I drove around town in reno a little bit. I have no mods on my car either. 100% stock. But as far as the city driving, I get like 19 at the most. I hate my car in the city
Wish I had a hybrid... lol ... just kidding... the power and the ride is well worth the gas..

I have a bone stock '03 CLS 6speed. I drive 75% highway, 25% city.
When averaging 80 mph on the highway, I was at about 320 miles on 15 gallons (21.3 mpg).
Now I'm averaging 70 mph on the highway, and I'm up to about 390 miles on 15 gallons (26 mpg).

No that's the turbo. Not only does he never drive the CL, he must never get on the gas when he does.
He's notorious for posting ridiculously high fuel mileage
Yes, truth be known I am a conservative driver
. But I do get on it every once in a while like on my last tank when I got 'only' 28.5mpg. Realize these are 90% highway miles though because I usually only take it out when I'm going out of town. Except for the last few days when I have been driving it every day because the Accord is broken, but I am fixing it today.
p.s. The Accord got 36.8mpg on its last tank

I just checked my tire pressure and it was 18psi in the back and 20 psi in the front!! I guess I had lowered it for traction with the turbo but I am sure it is hurting my mileage. So I put about 36psi in all 4 tires - this should give me at least a 10% increase in mileage. I'll know on my next tank of gas.
Damn, looks like owning a CLS isn't all is cracked up to be, that is gas wise. I fill up when the light comes on and fill up 12.5 gallons everytime it seems and after around 360-375 miles. that is 28.8-30 MPH. And I drive 3400 miles a month. Yes, I DRIVE 3400 miles a month usually doing 70-80. I live about 30 mins each way from my job. Damn. I just realized David changes my oil every month (husband a mechanic) and that if i continue to drive like this I'll put 40800 miles on my car in one year. HOLY SHIT.
puts things into perspective, damn

I never cut it that close for fear of vapor lock.
The best mileage I ever got was when I made a trip up north to my parents house. I got about 450 miles on 14 gallons which is just shy of when the gas light goes on. I tried to keep the speed down just to see if i could get really good mileage. I kept it on cruise at about 65-70mph. good to know our car gets decent mileage on the freeway. Oh and this was with the CAI installed.
too bad it sucks in stop and go traffic
Wow.. that means i'm having really bad gas milage with my car.. I have an 01' CL-S with AEM cold air intake.. I don't drive it much but every week i fill up it's about 13 MPG.. Does anyone have suggestions?.. You guys think the 60,000 miles tune up would help?.. thanks

However, I think that since I have CAI, if I were to go faster, it'd be using more gas.
I've tried different speeds. But so far, for my car, between 65-70 was the best.
If I can get 370 miles per tank in 70% highway/30% city, I'll try acetone. I'd like to get a consistent 400 miles per tank (~15 gallons) - which is good for a pretty large car like the CL-S. I just hate paying $50 / tank.
I don't know what the fuck, but I'm lucky to get 200 miles to a full tank, mostly city driving with a few short stints on the highway. I do drive very aggressively, but whats even funnier, is thats better than my friggin honda pilot, that thing sucks with gas.
You guys need to:
i. Check spark plugs
ii. Check tire pressure
iii. Check for any codes regarding O2 sensor or catalytic convertor issues
iv. Read your OBD-II values and see what the short-term and long-term fuel corrections factors are
200 miles for 14-15 gallons is 13-15mpg which is you can really only achieve if you are FI. Even with the turbo and aggressive driving I got more than 200 miles per tank!!

just drove up to niagra falls from the nyc, i got 420 mile to the tank going and an amazing 445 miles to the tank coming back. oh FYI i was breaking necks in niagra, bass thumpin chrome shining, yep it was a good trip, oh yeah we saw the falls too lol
Road trip this weekend gave me 335 miles to 14 gallons. Not too bad considering a good 15-20 miles I was stuck in traffic, the entire trip was through the mountains (elevation change of 200 to over 2,500 feet), and there was a little racing on the way back with a new M3.
Okay, I usually get about 19-20mpg around the city....usually around city streets and in traffic on the highways.
Went to Prescott, AZ into the mountains at an elevation of maybe 6000-7000 feet. Going there and back to Phoenix, I probably averaged between 65-70mph, I was able to get 28.5mpg.....the best I've ever seen on my car.
