Gas Gauge

Just curious on how far down does the gas gauge go. I have never pushed to see how far down it goes in fear of running out of gas. Whats the farthest you have had it or where is the pin at when your out of gas?

the gas gauge is pretty inaccurate, but embarrassingly enough i've had it dip a little below the red line before getting to the gas station. you've got about 60 miles left once the light comes on, but i wouldn't push your luck.

i've been under the red line....actually pushed very close to hitting the stopping pin...but i think i got lucky....bad day stuck on HOV...couldnt get off for like 15 - 20 miles...and was already coming back from Fredricksburg to Arlington VA....not a fun drive...it didnt sputter or anything but i made the most out of my manual car and cruised a whole lot.

Light comes on when you have 3 gallons left per the manual. Means for me I'd have almost 90 miles when it comes on.

Thanks for everyones input. At least I know I don't have to sweat too much after driving 20 miles with the gas light on.

Yeah, with 3 gallons in reserve, you don't have to worry much... I've put in 16 gallons in our 17 gallon tank once (cutting it close).

I've got a pic of it here, but I've got it a bit lower as well. You can definitely get the needle below the line.
