Future '98 CL Owner - need some help

Hey there. I've had a del Sol the last three years. Been in magazines, shows, magazine ads, etc and with a baby on the way, I need a larger car. I've decided that since CL's are not the norm (compared to Integras, Civics, Eclipses, etc) I'd go with one of those for my next project vehicle. I'm in the market for a 1998 CL 3.0. I haven't got one yet, but should within the next month or two. In preparation, I had a few questions. I'm kinda new at CL's, so don't laugh if this is obvious stuff to you folks...

#1 What is the wheel bolt pattern? I'm guessing not 4X100 (like Civics, Integras, Sols), but could be wrong.

#2 Does anyone out there have coilovers and if so, do they make them specifically for CL's or would I need to get Accord ones? I want height adjustability, not just springs.

#3 I've heard that Accord body kits will fit with minor modifications? How minor is "minor"? I'm already sponsored by Kaminari Aerodynamics, so I can get their Accord kit.

Thanks in advance for any feedback. I'm new to CL's, but this seems like it will be my next addiction. I'm sure you'll see me here a lot in the future.

I think you should ask these questions in the 1st gen area because you will generate more hits there. Most of the people in CarTalk are second Gen CL owners.

I will try to answer some of your questions here...

1. I know the bolt pattern is 4 lug, not sure about the spacing.

2. They do make coilovers, but I do believe you would have to get the ones for the Accords.

3. The same holds true for the bodykit. I haven't put a body kit on my CL because I like the way that the car looks as is, but I know that there is not one made specifically for the CL.

Welcome to the Forumn!

Bolt pattern is 4x114.3mm.
94-97 Accord suspension fits.
Side skirts fit, but bumper and rear pieces need modification....I think.

So, 94-97 suspension would fit a 98 CL?

Yup....the first gen CL is based on the previous 4-cylinder only model Accord. Everything under the body is pure Accord..As for body kits...you're going to have to do a lot of bondo, however...the front and rear bumpers can be removed and should be close to the Accord specs...but then again..you have a showcar...you know nothing fits just right...

The 98CL was built off of the 94-97 Accord (KA) platform in East Liberty. The sheetmetal on the floorpan is VERY similar - you shouldn't have much problem, just get a drill and a steady hand.
