so I just seafoamed my car

I had trouble finding seafoam seeing as I live in Canada

anyways I dont think its ever been done to my car because after stalling it there was white smoke coming out for like 5 minutes. the hole car filled with it I had to open my door windows and sunroo,f so it worked well !!

I went to take it for a ride after putting some in my gas tank and oil, and the funny thing was as soon as the V tec kicked in there was a shit load of smoke coming out( like james bond) LOL, when I let off no smoke then smoke when it kicked in again, the guy behind pulled up beside me and started yelling at me LMFAO

But my car is 10 times more responsive and idles really smooth !!

It's awesome! Glad it worked well for you. I smoked up my whole street when I ran it. I only did the intake so far, next time will do intake and gas and oil next time, it really helped my old accord. Going to even run it through my new (used) motorcycle

 

I did seafoam in the intake and gas a few days ago. Mine only smoked while I was pouring into the intake and the first hard pull on the onramp. I was expecting an engine light but when the tcs light came on I kinda freaked. But they're both off now and I've got what seems to be a brand new CL so I guess it was worth the anxiety! Vtec has a totally different sound to it too. I plan on doing the oil tomorrow we'll see what that does for me.

 

Nice one, I keep a few bottles of it around the house. Whether its for doing the dishes or pouring it in the tank of my car, it is great stuff.

Yeah Seafoam is great. I love how it blows smoke rings out of the exhaust. The results are amazing. Response as well as smoothness.

 

What's pits doing the dishes for? He's got an ATF filter DIY video to make!

 

ATF filter is soo easy tho.. that's why he's loafting, cause it shouldn't need a DIY.... but it couldn't hurt fo sho

 

Somehow I've managed to not figure it out. Part of my problem is I always attempt this stuff at night.

 

Ha, Im thinking of a business plan, thats why I haven't put many DIY videos on yet. If anyone is interested in a business idea let me know. Instead of the picture DIY, what about a website of strictly videos that are car specific and not just radom videos uploaded like on youtube.

I adjusted my e-brake in there today so now I can actually park on a hill. It's much better but still needs to be a little bit tighter for me to check it off my list of things to do :-) .

I'm also getting my passenger rear fender rolled tomorrow.

I got the drivers side done today but something came up and I needed the car so tomorrow i'ma geter finished. but yea the paint will crack in the fender no matter what so.. he shaved her down primed it up with some 2 part primer a few times and then is gonna get some color matched paint to finish the job.

as for the ATF filter it's the size of a small oil filter and is aproximately 10 inches away from the tb directly underneat the intake pipe right on top of the trans with 2 bolts one one side, with some weird black fitting going it/out of it, remove the bolts and then you unscrew it from the opposite end as you would a regular filter. Finito

 

Oh ya, how did the rear brake ebrake install go? Sorry fluffball about the thread deviation.

 

The weird black fitting is the atf temperature thing I think but don't hold me to that. it is flexible and bends slightly but I wouldn't bend it to mcuh.

 

There's a bracket directly on top of my filter preventing me from getting at it. I tried removing it but couldn't get it out in the dark. After the seafoam oil change tomorrow I'm gonna do another atf change (already did 3x3 flush) and hopefully change out that filter with the help of daylight.


While we're supposed to be on the subject of seafoam. Anyone ever try seafoam's tranny fluid variant?

 

Deep creep or something, i think that is what its called. If this was a regular car tranny I'd give it a whirl, but with our cars, I wouldn't use any additives.

 

yeah, i wouldn't risk it. i've talked to quite a few Acura techs who explicitly warned against using ANYTHING other than straight ATF Z1 in the trans. best thing you can do for it is the 3x3. that's actually the same method the techs use.

i actually never got around to doing the rear drums. between the cold and how much of a bitch it looked like, I really wasn't up for the task with cold fingers so i opted to just adjust the rear drum brake.

I did this by removing the rotor and then turning the little screw/sproket looking thingy with a spring touching it (closest to the ground) and then you move/turn it upwards to expand the shoes thus tightening the ebrake...

you CAN do this without removing the rotor via the little hole in the rotor hub with the rubber cover on it... pop that off make sure the hole is at the bottom and then use a flashlight to see the sprocket thingy..

If you have not done this b4 i would reccomend you take off the rotor and then adjust it and then toss back on the rotor.

when you put the rotor on and it begins to rub a bit... (nothing crazy) then that should be tight enough.

considering mine are original, the wear was MINIMAL at best.

only 20-30% had worn off... so they still got MANY MANY MANY yrs left

 

wow I posted this last night before I went out, any ways My CE light was blinking when I started it up and when I was driving then after I changed the oil it went off, I think im going to do it in a month again see if I clean it up some more

Oh and when I put it in the oil than drove the oil came out pretty chunky LOL

 

Wouldn't have put it in the oil unless you have new seals.

 

Did anyone ever go through all the possible ways to use seafoam on our cars? I've only ever heard of gas tank + oil...

 

I read a bunch on the TL side and it siad you can put it in the crankcase/oil, throttle body and gas tank

It did nothing to the car I drove it all night and it was fine I think there was a lot of stuff that why the CE light was blinking

to my knowledge, you are not supposed to DRIVE with seafoam in the engine oil :-o

 

With older seals there may be a bit of gunk plugging cracks in them. When you run the Seafoam through the oil it can clear out that gunk and cause the seals to leak.

It's just fine to drive with it in the oil. They recommend a minimum of 30 miles with it in the oil before changing your oil or you can put it in and leave it in til the next oil change. Just make sure you're using the recommended 1½ oz per quart of oil.

x2. thats why im not gonna put syn oil in my mom's 226k engine on the camry.

deep creep is the areosol version of seafoam. I use it for the intake, its easier to put in.

the trans version is not recommended for our cars.

also dont go too much into vtec, since it kick in at 5800 on the type s, go to like 6k. the reason for this is that if there is junk in the valves, you dont want them hitting the top of the cylinder at redline.

 

if you use brand name premium gas, you shouldn't really have significant buildup on the valves. IMHO

yea, cause when i did my car there was barely any smoke coming out and I did 4 different cars so I know what i doing.

car only had 100000kms on it but still it was like 5% of what came out of a bad car..

nope it kicks in much later, but there is another thing (thing is what I will call it because I cant remember its name) and that kicks in much lower

 

oh the IIRC ??? the manifold butterfly?

 

the IMRC (intake manifold runner control) kicks in at 4800 rpm. better known as the butterfly valve.

 

ya if you take the IM cover off its on the left side and if you rev the engine it should turn around 4800, and its a common thing to fail as well so good to check

 

Does the IMRC open when in neutral? If its anything like VTEC, it wont work unless youre in gear and over 20mph.

 

it will still open.

you can also look at the mechanical housing at the rear of the intake mani near the strut bar
