Fuel Pressure People???

I recently installed Comptech SC kit and ive been running really rich. I hooked up a fuel pressure gauge under the hood to check the pressure and its fluctuating around 80-90 PSI so i tried adjusting the FPR to lower the pressure and its not going anywhere. Just stays fluctuating between 80-90 PSI.

Is the FPR bad? If so, can any rising fate FPR substitute for the Comptech one? I found one that can handle 23-116PSI will that due? Thanks

PS. Im running the standard boost pulley and i know it should be between 35-40 PSI with 20in vaccuum & 66-70 static.

The Comptech FPR is known to fail.... However it can either be you reading (check hoses) it wrong or a failed FPR.

Think a few people have run the Aeromotive FPR without incident.

I have the same problem. I listed it in my other thread as well. I think my fuel pressure regulator is done for, but I'm not for sure. It was working fine one day, then that night when I went to move the car across the street it sounded like shit and I was running super rich!! I brought the car into the shop yesterday and the first thing to go were the sparkplugs. I guess I'm going to have to get a new one, but I want to be sure before I drop another $300. PSI should be at either 38 or 39, thats what Comptech said, mine was in the 50 range. The shop tried adjusting the FPR back to the spec and the car was still running like shit. At idle it feels like the engine is going to stall. Not a pretty sight!! Dunno about the replacement, I have the High Boost Pulley btw.

You can probably just rebuild the FPR. I'll send you the instructions.

PM Me your e-mail address.

From wat jproy says not too difficult. I will be doing this as soon as i get the instructions from Allout. CT engineering didnt return my emails about the FPR. Which is unusual because they usually get back to me pretty quick unless they are looking for the instructions I asked them for. My car doesnt stall @ idle or anything but it sounds like a Diesel truck and @ boost my wideband reads 11.0 and lower which i know is way too rich for 3000 rpms. My car is also drinkin gas like a lush. Im just trying not to drive it for right now.

I have not personaly done it but I know it can be done in less than an hour. There is not much to it. If you are having such bad problems pull it out and just take it apart and put it back together and see what happens. I am also working on getting the instructions. I will have them soon.

UPDATE!!!!!! I took the FPR apart. Nothing looked wrong, but i took every single piece apart and put it back together. Reinstalled it with the fuel pressure all of the way down started her up and was @ 20 PSI which is alot better than I was. So i tried adjusting it and EUREKA the PSI went up and I know have the recommended Fuel Pressure via Comptech. Thanks to everyone who helped! Im glad i was able to fix it without the instructions I also found an EXTREMELY easier way to adjust the fuel pressure but just undoing the FPR from the bracket and pulling it towards a more spacious area for adjusting. Ah I'm happy!
