Fuel Filter

Can someone correct me if i'm wrong. If I want to change the fuel filter, i have to change the whole fuel pump?

That is correct. The fuel filter on our car is inside the fuel pump.

^I think what he's asking is can the fuel pump be opened and have a new filter dropped in, as opposed to replacing the entire pump.

I have no answer to this, but am wondering too.

It's attached to the fuel pump. IDK if you can replace just the filter. Not sure how it's attached. The service manual goes into little detail on it except to replace as a unit. I do see a fuel filter set as a separate part on the parts websites however.

There are 2 things considered the filter, there is a plastic casing that the fuel pump attaches to and can gunk up, and then there is the suction filter which can be replaced. You DO NOT need to replace the fuel pump.

Get #1 and #6 from the items in the picture. When you slide it out of the tank, you remove your fuel pump, and reinstall to the new piece. It is fairly straight forward once you have it in front of you. Just a messy job.
