I've had my 01 CL for about 8 years and there are signs of clearcoat failure on the roof. During my ownership, there has been times where I have neglected the paint and so on. Is it common for a 8 year old car to have this problem? Kinda feel bad, but whats done is done.

 

My 01 CL-P in Dark Blue had several clear coat spots that were failing in 2004. Bad year maybe?

Ive got two decently sized blemishes, one on the hood and one on the trunk. Honda isnt known for great clearcoats. Just take a look at any 10+ year old red Honda.

I should add that the previos owner didnt really take care of the paint as well as he should.

 

Purchased mine 3/2000 and the paint looks as good as it did when I picked it up. Car is detailed every six months. Garaged at night and parked outside next to the Santa Ana Fwy five days a week.

then say "omg what did you do to the car!?" when they see the fucked up paint

 

I guess it really depends on what kind of care you put into it. I have an '01 and I just got done going a serious cut and polish on it to take out some of the swirls and freshin it up. Water beads all day!
