Front end knocking/clicking..help!

Well, i put my coilovers on a few weeks ago, and since then I have been getting some knocking/clicking noises going over VERY small bumps.

They don't make any noise when going over big bumps, or speed bumps.

It is a very subtle noise, but a very annoying noise in the least.

I don't think it is a coilover noise, but i could be mistaken. It almost seems like I left a bolt loose, or something to that affect.

Any suggestions?

Most likely its the sway bar end links. VERY COMMON problem especially if you have an upgraded sway bar.

I just changed all 4 this weekend. Also, they don't have to be broken to make the sound, they can be loose.

Also, the clicking can be from you not putting the rubber stops on properly while reassembling the spring/shock combo.

Is it both sides?

I don't think i touched my end links up front, I'm going to jack it up tomorrow and re tighten all my bolts down there, and the top hat/strut bolts.

I remember there being issues with those Tein SS's...something I think with the clearance.

Trying to find the thread that mentioned those issues.

Ugh. Not what i wanted to hear. lol

It doesent sound like it is coming from the coilover itself. Sounds like a loose bolt.

knocking isnt good unless you have a hidden dwarf under the hood knocking on your hood to get out. well I take that back, thats not good either unless you have an nsx (rear engine car, empty hood).

Maybe try some WD 40 on everything in the front suspension. For things like ball joints or tie rod ends with boots containing grease (and no grease fittings anymore these days) I simply use a grease gun with a needle fitting. They are available at auto parts stores. Just puncture the boot and fill it up. Sounds like two dry metal parts to me are rubbing together. Hope you can find it. When you do please let us know, thanks.

Check to make sure you don't have a loose bolt. That could very dangerous.

I should probably state that it is NOT a loud noise at all.

When i loosened my RSB there was a very loud knocking. This is NOT the same at all.

It is a very subtle knock, just an annoyance.

you got the parts used or new? The 6MT is lighter in the front. If the parts were used before on an auto, the setup may be adjusting, or the spring rate may be a little off.

i bought the coilovers used, about 10k miles on them from a TL auto user.

The sound has gotten a little worse throughout the day, but it has gotten colder too, if that makes a difference.

Alex, this will probably work from the TL thread above. I bought some coil isolators from Tein and they're pretty cheap and easy to put on. That's what i did to the rears on mine.

^ Those coil isolators from Tein....Is that something I could get to prevent any issues when I install my Tein SS's?

Great! I hope this isn't as common as it sounds to be.
