Friends that slam trunk?
Hey guys, I have a thread up in ramblings about friends who just seem to always slam your car doors as they get in, and as they get out. It's not on purpose, it's just being careless or whatever...
So do people slam your 2nd gen CL trunks down? This is mostly for the spoilerless folk, as without the spoiler; it's possible to close the 2nd gen CL trunk with one finger. Yet people still think you need 3 hands and enough force to blow your rear shocks just go close the damn trunk.
Anyone have this problem? I ALWAYS jump out and close the trunk myself.
I know nothing will probably break. It's just nerve wracking to me when I'm sitting in the car, and I hear BOOM.

says "hello to my TLX".
yeah, i've kicked my wife's ass for slamming my trunk lid.
but i do literally close my trunk with one finger between the spoiler and trunk to make sure the momentum doesn't cause it to close hard!

This pisses me off to no end. I find the most guilty people who slam doors and the trunk like they're doing a wrestling move are people who drive domestic cars. They are used to poor fit/finish and are used to having to slam stuff to get it to close properly.
A while back I had a '94 Honda Accord. It took 1 finger to close the trunk. A friend of mine who drove a cavalier (now drives a 7th gen Accord ) slammed the trunk hard. I immediately jumped out of the car and was like WTF!! I reopened the trunk to demonstrate how easily it closes and the trunk wouldn't close again. He actually damaged the hole that the bolt for the trunk latch strike goes through. After that, the trunk never closed right and didn't want to close at all. The trunk lid didn't line up perfect and it was always a pita to get it closed
Moral of the Story: Don't be afraid to yell at someone for slamming stuff or close the trunk gently by yourself

yeah I hate it when they slam the door and the seat belt buckle gets caught in the doorway
Heck ya, in my Accord that happened a lot. The seatbelt getting caught, and it would screw up the alarm sensors to my alarm...

The best is when they slam the door with the window all the way down...not a pretty sound and feels so much harder...
But my trunk need to kinda get slamed down because i unscrewd the rubber shock absorbers all the way out so my trunk can be tight and you cant hear it vibrate when my subs are on... it works perfect by the way, all you hear, well feel, is bass and no ricy buzzzz sound...

When me and the wife are arguing, she gets out in style, and slams my door in style too, she knows it's the only thing that will get my attention, that sh!t just urks me, feels like running after her and throwing a shoe at her... The trunk slamming always happens no matter what

I always do the trunk closing myself. It's a one finger close WITH the spoiler. I never touch the outside of the trunk though. I always grab it from the inside of the trunklid, on the back where there is an extra safety release. Just a nice tug is all it takes. I don't like putting my hands on the NBP paint, too many scratches already. The last thing I need is more and for someone else to damage my trunklid and latch.
The door slamming irritates the snot out of me to. I always say something.

Drifting
that is why i used to open and close the door for my ex g/f. both door edges are bent in from her not paying attention. i would always blow up at here when she slung the door open as far as it would go(as if i didn't already have enough door dings from inconsiderate pricks). i never understood that, she weighed 115, and acted like she needed the room of a 300 plus woman to get out of the car. i don't think anyone besides me has closed the trunk since i've owned the car though.

I'm glad we 2nd gen folk have meticulously unhealthy attachment to our inanimate objects :P

yeah my one friend had a bad habit of slamming my car door like he is the incredible hulk. so i swore once he got his car i'd abuse it and se how he felt. he ended up getting a Z3, and as hard as you slam doesn't really matter those doors are like bank vault doors.
who cares if its "just a car", people gotta learn to be nice and gentle!!!!

I remember reading that.
I truely have an "unhealthy" attachment to my car. It's an obsession and a wicked curse.

You know my girl closes her door & it always seem to slam. I think it's that the gaskets aren't that thick. I mean she's a chick, she doesn't slam it when she get's out. I had been wondering if it was just mine car, guess it's not. LoL.
& I have to say, I too an obsessed w/ my car. I cry when I get a ding anywhere on my car. Is that so wrong? LoL...

Back to a MT!
I will demonstrate and make a big deal out of people slamming my trunk. I also show that there is handle on the inside and there will be no touching of the exterior of my car!
