Freak Hail Storm... Carbon Fiber Hood?
OMFG - Just got nailed in a freak hail storm / tornado up here in NH yesterday. I watched the hail keep getting bigger and bigger from the office windows while landing on my car, effectively denting the sh*t out of it. Words cannot adequately describe the trauma it caused!
In an attempt to salvage something good from the experience I am considering springing for a carbon fiber hood. I'm contemplating buying one to cover the damage up front and then shopping a paintless dent removal service for the roof/rear trunk damage. Insurance will probably cover $1500-$2K in total.
Mine is silver, w/an H&R sport drop, custom magnaflows and factory rims.
I fear it could possibly look too ricey next to the other Acuras, Mercedes and BMWs in the parking lot... at the same time I really want the weight reduction up front. Any opinion on the set up is appreciated!

Anyone know how solid these things are? I don't want my hood jiggling around going over bumps and sh*t.

Also get it clear coated again too so it doesn't chip so easily. Sometimes some CF pieces are clear coated....and then again, some aren't.
Yeah my brothers car was all f'ed up. All of his panels had to be taken off and replaced. The ceiling of the car was pieced out with a new roof refabbed on. It looked brand new when it was done.

yep, my car looked like shit.
it was slow too.
too bad nobody who would want this hood lives nearby. I still have it in my garage.

IMHO, I think it depends on the color of the car. SSM/SMR/ABP and, eh hem... NBP PDG/TW =
BTW, Your insurance carrier will probably write an estimate for regular paint/body work on the hail damage. If your hood, roof, trunk lid, and possibly the top portions of all the side panels are damaged, you're likely looking at a $5k ballpark figure +/-. If THEY cut YOU the check for repairs, then take it to the paintless guy and have him fix it for cash. He'll likely give you a deal if you're paying cash. Not to be sneaky however, I know some guys in the business and thats what they do. You'll end up making some money on that deal.
