Found another deal!

Its local too. Like 5 minutes from my house. Its an '01 CLS with like 120,000 miles. Pretty clean shape. Has stock Navi in it. ASking 9500, but I think thats a big pricey, it has a few dings here and there. The guy says he hasnt noticed anything wrong with the tranny and he has heard of it. Is this a good deal? Id try to bring him dont to like 8K. Sounds more reasonable. Ok so this extended warranty there is now. 7 years/ 100K miles. Does that mean that this car would still be in the warranty. Im a noob and dont really know that much about the whole warranty thing. If the warranty is still in effect for this car that would be amazing. So let me know. Thanks in advance

You answered your own question. It is 20,000 miles out of warranty.

That doesn't seem like a good deal to me I have seen like such a good deal I have seen some with less than 100k for that much. If I were you I'd take a pass on that one.

Pass on it.

Same a couple more thousand and find yourself a 6-speed. You'll thank yourself later, when you won't have to worry about a ticking transmission.

It's 2008... That's a 2001... that's 7 years... so depending on the in service date, it's probably out of warranty. IIRC the 2001's were available in early 2000 since there wasn't a MY (model year) 2000 CL, so even the last of the 01's will be out of warranty this year (in the next couple of months if my math is right).

It's 100K miles or 7 years whichever comes first. Actually 109K miles due to the odometer readings being off, but that's another thread...

Heck, the first 03's will be falling out of the 7 years in March 2009.

You're going to see alot of CL's forsale now that they're starting to fall out of warranty.

Yeah, years ago there was a big difference in price between a 01 and 03. Now it's just hundreds of dollars sometimes...

Check this out:

http://providence.craigslist.org/car/549998271.html

$11K for a 6spd with 78K miles... that's only 1500 more than a 01 w/ 120K miles...

Check out the cheap 6spd thread here for more examples:

The warranty really depends on the dealership. Mine was a 2001 and was purchased in 2000, so it was technically beyond the warranty window of 7 yrs (only has 74k miles), but they still replaced my transmission, and ecu for free.

So with the new replacement transmissions that come under warranty, are these trannys also bound to fail, or have they actually resolved the problem?
