Ford Motor Co

Ford Motor Co. announced plans to combine its 150 Jaguar dealerships and 140 Land Rover stores in the U.S. into 200 dealerships. Approximately 40 of the consolidated stores will also carry Aston Martin. The strategy is to create a stronger brand to compete more effectively with BMW, Mercedes, and Lexus. Internal Ford forecasts call for Jaguar, Land Rover and Aston Martin to sell a combined 100,000 units in 2002, up from 72,000 last year, and 45,000 in 1999. BMW sold 213,000 cars and SUVs in the U.S. in 2001.

If Ford makes it, i won't buy it. Sorry Jag and Rover. I guess this is better news for them though. Keep up with the common sense decisions Ford.
