Footwell Lighting

Im going to install neons under the driver and passanger footwells and also under the seats for the rear passangers.

I want to install them to so they light up when I open the doors. That is not going to be a problem because I will tap it into the dome light.

Here is the real question.. I want to be able to put a switch inside so I can turn on the lights while im driving....

if you ask me i think it would be cooler to put dim white led's under the seats that project onto the carpet

i dunno i think that would look classier, but either way good luck

Im going to put blue neons underneath. I though about the white lights but I saw a car with blue neons and it sold me. I though it would look a little ricey but it doesnt. I compliments the outside of the car when the doors are open...

Thanks for the suggestion.

How would I go about wiring to a switch....

What you need to do, is take the wire from the dome light and a wire from a 12v ignition one source, like the radio, and run them both to a single pole double throw switch. In one position, say up, the neon will come on with the dome light only, in the seconde position, down, the neons will come on any time the key in the ignition and is in the acc or on position. If I could draw it for you here, I would. But it would be too hard.

P.S. I woldn't use the radio wire, I am sure you will get noise on the radio if you do. Just using it as an example.

There is a wire at the passenger fuse box which goes to the dome lights. Becareful with this wire, if you short it, your whole multi-plexed control box is out of commission. randomwalk101 tried it and it was not fun

Oh, and dont put too much load on this wire, you can overload the multi-plexed unit. Try to use relay.
