Fog Lights

Hey all,

Im just bought my CL and would like to know if you can have the fog lights on with out the headlights on and vice versa. I dont have a manual so I cant look it up. Also where can you buy some of those xenon fog lights I have seen on some of the CLs.

Thanks,

Vince

Hey, Im new here too. I know you're going to get a reply to just use the search button.

There was a thread that shouldn't be any further than page 2 that'll answer your questions. Good luck.

I assume you have an 01 or 02. No you can only have the road lamps on with the headlights. However, you can rewire them to have a switch. You can't put xenons in the factory housings. You can go with an aftermarket setup though. If you are just talking about changing the bulbs, replace them with PIAA 19224 or Polarg M6.

PIAA 19224 look good. They are very close to the HID bright white. Very easy to change, 5-10 minutes. I found the how to doing a search a couple of weeks ago. Get a flashlight and a phillips (longer the better) screwdriver. If you look at the grill next to fog light there is little notch that allows access to the screw that holds the lights in. Loosen the screw (it will not fall out) and the entire light will come out with a little prying.

What I would like to know is does the CL-S have the same wiring harness as the TL-S? If so, since the TL has a fog light on/off switch the wiring should be present to wire them to a TL switch and have them on with the headlights off.

I have the PIAA's, love them. I've been wanting to rewire the roadlamps for a while now, but don't have the skills. (I have an 01) With the TL kit however, I believe it is possible.

Why are you planning this mod? It's illegal in Cali to run fogs only so be careful. and can't you already just have headlights on without the fogs?

fogs

My fogs where useless the other day, are the piaa 19224 the best for brightness/cutting through the fog?
factory bulbs seem to be useless.

They ARE NOT foglights, they are a running light, mostly for looks and not designed to light the road. 6 watts or so - blame Acura. even the old TL had foglights.

I have performed the modification in question. Drop the underskirting and cut the driver's side lamp connection, leaving a few inches. Use a tap and connect it to the left side marker wire. Cut the 2 wires going to the passenger side lamp and solder them together. Connect that lamp to the right side marker.

Now they come on with the parking lights, stay on with the headlights.
