Fluctuating/Low Idle??
On a cold start, my 2001 CL-S will occasionally have a slightly fluctuating idle. I also sometimes get a low idle during normal driving conditions when coming to a stop.
I've heard issues with the IACV (idle air control valve) on our cars, but is it the real culprit? This seems like a relatively common issue.....but I'm not aware of any TSB.
I think some of you have replaced this part and it didn't fix the problem....any other thoughts?

See this thread, which can be found if you search for "idle" under the search function:

Basically, it can be Idle Air Control Valve, battery, oxygen sensors, or bad gas.

Idle Control
I test drove a gold CL with 65K at the local Acura Dealer before I bought my Black and Tan CL. The first time, the idle was going from 1K to 2K on a 5 second interval, making the car very hard to drive, as it wanted to accelerate while braking.
The sales guy had it fixed and I drove it again- it was fine. He told me it was the idle controller valve or module. Apparently it's a common problem, but they had to order the part.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for the link. I don't think it's bad gas or bad oxygen sensors.....as this has been happening for a long time. It's not causing my car to stall- just been a real annoyance. If this is so common, then why no TSB?
How does adjusting the screw help? I think it's just a band-aid and will just mask the real problem.
Also, everytime my car is in for service at the dealer, it never happens....go figure I always get the "unable to reproduce" response. I think it's been documented though at some time, so if the valve is truly bad, then I may have some hope for a free new one.

Resurrecting this old post as proof that I searched first. I am having the same problem with my idle- it surges from about 800 to 2200 rpms. I know the Idle Control Module is the culprit, but I have 2 problems.
1- I dont know where it is, excactly. I need a picture, too, because I've been verbally told and still couldnt find it. A picture would really help.
2. This is my second time replacing this part, within like a year and a half. I think something is causing it to go bad. Any ideas? At like $230.00, this is an expensive recurring problem
thanks

edit: This is only for a 2nd Gen CL, you have a 98 (1st gen) CL, don't you (if you do have a 2nd gen CL, please change your signature).
Check these thread (there both in the big orange sticky at the top of the forum):

I haven't needed to clean or replace mine, but I could have swore they were cheaper than that... (it's only like $102 from acura carland).
