flames coming out of the pipe?

Hi guys

I was fooling around on 280 yesterday with a modded old eclipse and i saw flames coming out of his tail pipe......is this mean he has nitro????? Just wondering .
Also when i was behind him the smog coming out smell nasty.

BTW, we were not really racing (just 60mph-110mph)
i was just tailgating him to see if he can lose me....and he couldn't.

Rich Mixture and running Turbo without much restriction in the exhaust plumbing.
Raw fuel in the exhaust manifold goes = boom

Maybe?

No, it was probably a flame kit. You can buy them for like 30 bucks online. My friend used to have 2, one for his car and one for his bike. He told me how it works, but I don't remember anymore.

Smitty, thats exactly what I am talking about. It's sweet, but my friend was a dumba$$ and turned it on while a cop was behind him and melted the cops front bumper, got slapped with a 1200 buck ticket and spent a night in jail. Then he took it off.

Im sure that was the rich mix with the turbo causing that. My friends second gen eclipse does it once and a while too.

If it was a rich mixture, it would look more like afterburners on a fighter jet, shooting out the back with a blue tint to the flame.

If it was a flame kit, it would look like a big flame or fire had started at the tip of the exhaust pipe. It more like an orange colored fire.

well the flames are relatively small (nothing close to that pic)

i did get to see the insider of the car and i see a lot of small gages on the diver side dash (so i assume he has nitro)

Since i don't own nitro nor any of my friends has one so i was wondering if the flames is related to nitro

How long did the flames last? Was it breif or did they go on for a good, say...3 secs.

U might wanna check otu the site and see the movies. Cause a flame kit will allow u to do both all depends how u set up the kit.

Already on it.

But I'm still skeptical on tappin and plumbing an $1K exhaust system. But the risks involved for the results attained are superceeded.
