first upgrade?

Well it depends
Do you want an Exterior mod, Engine mod, or interior mod.
#1 Exterior mod is Springs and Shocks.. Go find a guy named Deansbluesi (Dean Batey) he got great prices.
#2 Exterior mod if you don't got it already:

1) CT springs and sways. You will get the best handling improvement with this combo.
2) CT intake and headers. This will give you about a 46whp increase (intake 14whp/headers 32whp).
3) Tires. I recommend Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 225/50ZR17s. You will see a big improvement in cornering compared to the stock tires, even in the rain. Some people say you will get just as much wheel spin off the line as you get with the stock tires. But my experience has been different. I get a lot less wheel spin with the with the stock tires.
4) Konis and CT shock tower Brace.
5) Brembo brakes and rear cross-drilled rotors.
BTW - I just had the dealer install CT springs/sways/intake/headers on my CLS 6sp. Make a huge difference in power and handling. I enjoyed my stock 6 sp before the upgrade - enjoy it twice as much after the upgrade. Can wait to do 4) and 5) upgrades.

comptech springs do not make the car low enough.....get the eibach pro kit springs........i think they look alot better......then get a transmission cooler....this will prolong your transmission fluid which is a major need for our cars
Personally, I went:
1) Intake (Injen)
2) Exhaust (Comptech)
3) Wheels/Tires (AT Italia/Michelin Pilots)
4) Springs (H&R Sports)
5) Headers (OBX - going on soon)
That list doesn't include little things like my M5 lip spoiler, etc.
It seemed to be a good path for me. I just kind of modded based on what I wanted at the time. I knew right away that I wanted to do the Intake first b/c the sound is just too intoxicating. After that I did everything in that order b/c I got good deals on things... and that just happened to be the order the deals came
. To each their own, but personally, I'd do a power mod, then a handling mod, then just rotate the rest from there

this is a good upgrade pattern, however your listed gains for the intake and headers are SEVERELY overrated. you cant stack up HP gains like that. youre maybe getting 35 HP over stock with an intake and headers.....which is respectable. but 46 is out of the question from those 2 mods.

I would have to say though after upgrading to CT intake/headers, car does feels like it has between 35 to 45 more whp. Although, this is a seat-of-the-pants feeling. I guess I should go and have my car dyno'd.
everyone else is wrong,, get a V1 first,,, this car is sneaky fast,, the money I saved on tickets payed for the rest of the mods,, so I tell my wife every time I have to "hit the brakes",,,
Nobody mentioned anything about the crappy sound system. You gotta at least add a sub to the stock blose system.
Depending on what type of car you came from, there's more than enough power for at least this Summer. (and get a V1)

i just came out of the stone age. pushin' a purple automatic 95 200sx. quite an upgrade if you ask me. thanks for inputs, but one more question, aem or c/t intake? price to performance that is.
and whats a v1?
and whats a v1?
v1 is a radar detector that many people here and elsewhere believe is the ultimate is protection from cops.. http://www.valentine1.com i believe.. check it out.. although many of us will contend that the escort 8500 is sufficient and keeps a bunch of cash in your wallet.. but that's not a discussion for this thread.
