its just, upsolute doesnt have the best reputation with the audis, or vw's.. alot of people say its just crap, thats why its cheaper than all the other chips...
i would look into Revo.. http://www.revotechnik.com/usa/usrevo.html
it says they will be luanching chips for the boxter, 993, and 996
with Revo, there is no actual chip, it programs your stock ECU, and you can buy a device that programs you back to stock, for visits to the dealer. The chip is basically invisable.

Thanks a lot for the advice, all the 996TT chips are just reprograms, you send yours out and the download software to it and send it back, so it is undetectable to a dealer. That is why I cant see why some people want 3k plus for basically a software download, there not giving you any physical parts, and its pretty much the same software for all cars. So when you go to sell the car you cant even take out the ECU and sell it, so whatever you spend on the ECU or "chip" your not going to get a dime of it back. When you think about it even 500 is a lot for just a download. Jim Conforti makes some incredible programs for BMW's and they cost about half, and they come with a device that plugs right into your ECU so you can switch from stock to the program anytime you want. Basically its the same for modifying any car, the more the car costs the more aftermarket manufacturers are going to jack prices up because they think if you can afford the car, you can afford more for parts. As far as the revotech chip, a lot of companies that come out with their first versions of software are often released too soon and there not fully developed. This happened with a few of the 996 tuners, Upsolute being one of them, but after more time they were able to get the bugs ironed out. Again thanks for the help, Ill definetly check into it, its nice to have options.
How much is this car and how much is insurance? I know if you have to ask price you can't afford it, but I swear I will never pay over $30k for a car, (I used to say $20k). For me, I would only buy a true sports car as a second car.
