That just plain sucks. Look at the poor old guy and his gouged-out-eyes CL.

I'm beginning to wish that all the new cars that are coming standard with HIDs will go back to them being an option (an option that I will invariably take, frankly), so that thieves will have to wrestle with the possibility that your car may not have anything of worth to steal.

WTF! What can we do to make it harder for them to steal? Doesn't the alarm go off if you disconnect the lights? My factory alarm goes off when you dissconnect my fog lights. Any ideas?

It's not the ricers stealing the lights. it's people that rob houses and cars and sell stolen shit. I mean who wouldn't buy something for half the price. But it makes me nervous now since I live in the Bronx..haha But I have a garage.

Everyone does Type R engine swaps in little del sols and civics and 9 times out of 10 it came from a stolen Type R. Not everyone can afford a cl-s, so they do what they can to their cars...

Anyone know how fast it takes for someone to steal them?? Thinking about investing in a pager alarm and shotgun..

The article says that it is mostly Acura's and not Benz's, Lexi or BMW's that are losing their HID's. From what I can understand from the article this is so because Acura's are currently the favorite car for modding. Is it because with the HID's the "electronic igniter" in our cars is compatible with other Acura/Honda cars? And as for the BMW, Lexi and Benz's their igniters are not compatible with Acura/Honda?

That might doo some good it a cop pulls over the theif. My solution is to replace all your screws holding your hid lights with TORX Security Screws. We use them in the Video gaming industry. I'll post pics of what they look like! they are avalible in all type of sizes and lengthes.

Humm... As a mater of fact. I WILL make this a priority for myself.

Well, any hid ballast will work with any 12v source. SO compadibility is not the key here. I think it's simply easier to steal the hids off an acura then a bmw, mercedies, etc.. I read someplace on the net that all that is done is the theif removes the front bumpercap, then pops your hood, and volla! They have total access!

I would runa wire in parallel with a door switch to each headlight, then install the wire in a way where the continuity would be broken in the circuit when the lamp is pulled, hence the alarm sounding..

I think the very best solution to this and any theif problem, is what Langjas said.

Invest in a pager/shotgun!

I think it's time to shoot out all the lights on civics with HID's. My pellet gun with scope will more than do the trick. Better yet, shoot the f@#$*n thieves.
