Finally had the trunk bracket break
It's happened to me finally. A common problem. I went to close my trunk lid today, heard a clang noise. I look in & find the bracket for the trunk springs hanging loose. Weld broke.
Have no plans to fix it. Trunk still opens/closes fine. I'll just do it easier going forward. Just passed 89K miles.

It's happened to me .
I was down low head near the lock.
My trunk lid must have aleast 15lbs of sound deading plus the two wings.
That thing came down and cracked me in the middle of the head.
It made me flip backwards and fall on my back.
Had a lump for a few days.
Thank god that thing had a plastic cover over the latch.
That thing would've spit me good.

thats the reason I had the bracket fixed and put in the HD bars. I could have lived without it popping up.
What helped was taking off the rubber bumpers on both sides on the trunk arm. It makes the truck less likely to fall. I used some felt pads over where the bumpers used to be so it wouldnt be metal on metal when I opened the trunk.
