fenderwell trim installation / paste wax

Hi,

I just got my fenderwell trim from A&H Motors. The installation instruction said I need to clean AND paste wax the area where the trim will be installed on. Since I am going to order some Zaino Bros product soon, can I just use that instead of getting a new can of paste wax?

Thanks

j.

I think their point is that you are about to cover up some of the painted area and you should make sure that it is very clean and well protected so that no moisture and dirt are in there to a) prevent the glue from holding and b) deteriorate the painted surface. So, does it have to be paste wax versus liquid wax versus a cheap substitute wax-wanna-be like Zaino ( j/k)? I don't think so. I would clean it up, put some type of protectant on it and install the guards

Anyone have pics of the fenderwell trim? I have never seen it on a CL.

I would imagine that they would not want wax on that surface, because it would keep any adhesive from sticking.

If they don't have adhesive, then I guess they what you say is correct. Maybe they are wanting the area waxed?

Does the trim use adhesive?

The one I got from AH Motors is not adhesive. It uses expansion clips and self-tapping screw

Got them at Springfield Acura in NJ when I bought the car. They fit pretty well but frankly, its been too cold outside and the car too dirty for me to really inspect this thing yet. (IMO you never really know the car until you wax it for the first time)
So I think they fit fine - send me $400 and I will buy a camera and take pictures for you and post them
