yup, not to mention you would be VERY lucky to get a production cost of 3k-5k. i've been on the floors of liquid mold injection factories and had representatives walk me through the process. basically there is no way for this to get done in the states unless you have a hookup. time to go to the far east....

yeah I've been getting the same feedback. And from the far east I have gotten the idea that it will be very tough to find a factory willing to produce these without doing like a 5000 piece run or something absurd (for our purposes) like that.

Yup, costs outweigh the demand. I wasn't even doing this to make money or an income, just to get a product made. Unfortunately there is a mold out there somewhere because these were made once upon a time. I contacted the original manufacturer and he refused to give me any info or sell me the mold. Oh well.

That's lame of the original manufacturer.

It's obvious he has no intentions of reproducing it.

If anyone is interested in the carbon fiber grill I can direct you to someone who will do a small run. I have the surround as well. I believe the costs are like $2k-2.5k. I just don't see many people buying one.

You're probably right.

I'd be interested in one...

Anybody else?

Was there anything else you and Excelerate did that is still around for the CL?

I didn't go back and check that you said that but that's what I remember reading somewhere.

2k for the costs involved with creating a mold and doing a small production run is what I gathered.

That doesn't sound expensive considering all factors.

I'm subscribed! Just in case this ever happens. I just got my 03 CLS and was leaning towards casting my own diffusers and am not thrilled at the expense or headache of trying this out! :/ I saw a DIY once and it can be done, just not price effective for a couple as everyone else has said.

nspec... great ride and awesome drop and rims! JC, are your diffusers smoked right now? That's the route I'm leaning towards if I can't locate a set of clears.
