my theory is that the CL-S is still such a new car and basically all of them are still under factory warranty so people are still apprehensive to mod the hell out of them...another thing is that the CL-S is simply TOO EXPENSIVE for most modders.....most modders buy a 4,000 dollar civic, spend 10-15K on it (integra engine swap, every bolt on, etc) and have a really fast car....well to buy a CL-S used still is well over 20k...thats too much money for most modders to afford and THEN have to spend money on mods, i think as time goes on and the cars are around longer, like 3 years from now, when 2001 CL-S will be like 10-15k, then you will start to see people modding the hell out of them, also, as we have just started to see, mod parts are getting cheaper, such as the OBX headers....and its alot easier for someone to afford a 15K car and spend 4K on a supercharger than it is for someone to spend 30K on a car and then 4K on a supercharger....i think that if someone (and im sure some of the people here would qualify for this) have enough money lying around, we could see some VERY VERY fast CL-S....the problem is the money, and not everyone has 30k to spend in a car, then at least another 10-15k for all of the go fast mods (i.e. headers, supercharger, nitrous, exhaust, intake, suspension, wheels, etc, etc)
Well put Jim. Take fastvtecCL for example. He has the first gen CL which is finally starting to get a lot of aftermarket support. It's also more cost effective too. And to prove it.. just look at his time.. he has one of, if not THE fastest CL's on the board.....

I'm very tempted to get those dunlop sp9000's for $90 a pop.I think we will all begin to see that the CLS, especially the 6mt, requires some true summer performance tires. I don't think my A/S pilot sports will cut it either............

But honestly allmotor_2000 has run quicker. If I could just get his short time I might have a quicker time.
But I do expect us to see a few 13's coming up soon...
Tires
I just ordered some drag radials.... let me try them out and
see what difference they make. Might be able to launch a tad higher. I strongly doubt 1.8 60-foots, but maybe consistent 2.00's or maybe a 1.9x-something.
The thing is... the car needs to run like a 13.8 or something to be called a 13-second car. A lucky 13.96 run... doesn't really make it
a 13-second car, IMHO.
BTW... here's a link to my previous cars... the civic about six months before it became a race-only car and the nsx.

Rims..
Put it this way... I never took the NSX to the track!!! It was a cruiser-car... pretty quick though, but it sure got a lot of attention.
Bone-stock, I think the CL-S is a high-14 car. But most of the folks here are enthusiasts and with pretty much just bolt-ons, quite a few are hitting low 14's.
If someone does something drastic, they will run 13's NA or even 12's with either forced induction or NOS.
At the end of the day, it doesn't matter as there will ALWAYS be someone who hits a faster E.T. than you!

I don't have the time slip, but I should be in the 13.9x second range at this point (my last run was 14.1 on a warm day--see sig).
I should have my headers, the Type 'S' cams, and VAFC installed by month's end. After a good dyno tune (and if my tranny holds out), I should be in the 13.5 to 13.7 range.

damn allmotor, thats your civic!! i saw that on a website a long long time ago. it's been one of my favorite cars just because you kept it looking mostly stock, now thats the true defintion of a sleeper!
Yes... those pictures were part of an article by the Honda Hybrid site. Now, this is at least 5 years ago!! The car was a sleeper... but it became too tough 'conver' it for every track event so eventually it became a race-only car. But...it sure embarassed soooo many people!
