Farewell to my Type-S

Yes, it's true, I traded the 03 Type-S to a dealer and they paid off the trade at $26K with 30K miles on the car! Couldn't believe it and I got a new Eclipse GT-S Spyder (convertible). I received a great deal and wanted a drop top again. It's pretty sweet. Not the punch of my S, but the 200 hp, 24 valve V6 with the 5 speed isn't too bad. I think someone bought the car already yesterday! It was cool chatting it up with you guys and meeting some people. I'll keep in touch. When I get the NSX you guys will be the 1st to know!

you so crazy. MY bud at my old job has one of those. I'd go insane trading my car for that, but different strokes for different folks. Congrats on your purchase, and don't be a stranger!

was your 14.51 with all your mods there? do you have any mods left to sell or are they all gone?

also, congrats on the purchase. I've seen turbo kits on that car that make it pretty beastly.

Was the drop top really worth such a downgrade in cars?

Yes, I had an Eclipse before my CLS. More like NOOOOO backseat. They are not even really contoured for people, only items, small ones.
Congrats on the new purchase. Personally I will never buy a Mitsu again, everyone I know that owns one (doesn't matter what model) they all bitch about it. Yes the Evo is cool, but it's still a Mitsu.
Hope you have better luck with yours

My girl wants a vert...but I cannot bring myself to buy the Mitsu...

It really is the only thing in that class...aside from the mustang(pos) and the Sebring(too old fartsy).

Of course, there is the Z vert, but I'm not going to re-mortgage my house for it...

You are in for a WORLD OF TROUBLE.

My brother has an '01 GT and that thing is the biggest piece of shit ever. He's selling it to get a Saab.

Check www.eclipseforums.org for known problems. I won't even get into details, but it's bad... really bad. Sorry to rain on your parade, and this is probably the last thing you would want to hear about your recent new car purchase, but better to learn now than getting hit later on with a bunch of problems.

Not to mention dealership service. They are horrible.

Believe me guys, I was sad to see it go. I revved the engine up a few times right before I had to give it up! I'm only getting the Eclipse as a temporary deal until my new job kicks in, I got a much lower payment now for a while and was just looking for something sporty and fun to drive. It's no CL, but it will do for the meantime. I have no idea what i'll get next.

I sold the car with the parts. But I still have the stock springs, shocks and intake if anyone's interested. I only took back the shift knob. And that 14.51 was when I had the old AEM intake that busted a hole in it!

Yeh if i wanted to spend $30k, i would have gotten an S2000, but I need to keep the bills down for a while until I adjust to moving back here to NC from MD.

Hello! I said I was trying to go cheaper for a while. I got the Eclipse loaded at a steal for under 20K, 13K less than my Type-S, besides, I think the Evo and WRK are butt ugly--The Type-S is a luxury sport coupe, those things are turbo charged rice patties that wannabe Fast and Furious kids drive with low self esteem. When I get a little breathing room for a couple of years, I'll step up, right now my priorities are my job and my house.

An '04 Neon SRT-4 would be better. The best thing I did was get rid of my '01 Eclipse GT. The 5 speed tranny is terrible and it handled the same as my parents Focus. At least the convertible part will be fun.
