Farewell CLS6

Over these past few months, I have been thinking about getting a new car, a Toyota Supra Twin Turbo 6-Speed. I will have the finances right after next summer and I don't feel that I drive the CL enough for it to be worth keeping. I love my CL, but it is not the right car to keep as a weekender and I want to stop fighting front wheel drive. I have already started to take parts off of it so it will be semi-near stock when it sells. Keep an eye out on the black market for clean Comptech parts that are exclusive to the 6-Speeds in the semi-near future. Anyway, I will still be a frequent member on Acurazine and I will let everyone know when it will be up for sale. This board has brought be into the performance world and I would not know jack squat about how to make a car go fast if it weren't for you guys

I must have missed the party on this one...
GLWS...if I had a weekend car, it too would HAVE to have zero practicality (that's what a DD is for)...must have power and must be RWD. I think you're making the right move!

Black CLS6 to Supra, this same move was done by another member before, artbran.

A Volvo/Supra combo would be very interesting, make sure you do a photoshoot of them.

The search for a black on black 6spd Supra with 35k on it or under (this is what I will be looking for) should not be too bad compared to when I was searching for my CLS-6. This is because the supra is considered a collector car and is mostly used as a weekender as opposed to dailys like the cls-6's are. There is already a black 6mt supra on ebay (stock of coarse) that has 23k on it. It has tan interior though

IIRC that member still has his CLS6 that he uses as his daily. He's on Supraforums.com and his avi has a red supra on it with the cl in the background

Edit: may be someone else on here named ag supraman or something like that

He's changed his mind, so what, it happens, I went from big truck phase, to fast car phase, sold my f250 w/ 38'' tires and got a z06 corvette.

I have to fight the urge to change my mind too often...it would cost me WAY too much! Plus, made sure I rode the hell out of my $400 mountain bike before being sure I was into the sport enough to invest real money! !

I was obsessed with it, but I've had it with fwd. I tried to race someone recently and was spinning the tires at 55mph. Plus it's a sport luxury car and I only use it to have fun. I don't take advantage of all of the features it has to offer and I think a rwd weekend car would be more ideal.

^your tires must not be very good.
I'm putting down at least 240hp to the wheels, with super STICKY summer tires. I do not spin at 55mph.

If the CL is paid, Id sell the Volvo (to me ) and keep the CL for a daily.

I dont spin at 55 either. I really dont spin through second, especially with the heat we've been having.

This is either the biggest bunch of bullshit or you bought the cheapest tires money can buy.

It's an Acura CL-S, not a 600whp Supra. There's not a chance in hell your car should be spinning the tires at that speed because I doubt you're making anywhere near the amount of power that cause such an issue.

Like I said, I'm putting down at least 240hp, and no wheel spin at 55mph.
And I know thats more than the CL-S.

You could have done it at the 1/4 mile, I still believe you're just BS'ing everyone. It takes a lot of power to be going 55Mph, & cause the tires to lose any grip when you give the car gas.

LOL at spinning at 55 mph. This car is mildly powerful, but will not spin second in the slightest unless you've managed to spin clear through first in the wet and kept it going. My Z06 spins through second gear if I do it right, and that's over 90 mph

The "spinning" he thinks he was observing is probably the clutch not grabbing and revving towards red-line. I was under the impression once that I was breaking tires loose going over 40-50 mph when I hit the 1/4 mile at Englishtown, but it was just my clutch not grabbing. However, I was still on my original clutch (anywhere from 50-75k miles) and pushing low/mid 300 WHP so the stock clutch wasn't up to the task.

I didn't however, install a new clutch and burn the crap outta it within the first 500 miles doing hand brake burn outs unlike someone I know. That's probably why you "think" your tires are breaking loose at 55. If you actually "Treated your car immaculately" as you said you did, you would not have done such a foolish thing, and now your paying the price for it as you greatly reduced the life of your replacement clutch by improperly breaking it in/doing stupid burn outs. Make certain if you sell, you tell the new owner you abused the clutch currently installed within the first few miles and they may have to install a new one, or at least do them the service and install it on your own dime

When i drove it, it was making a hard un-usual "thump" every time i shifted.

After about 10 minutes, it stopped and the car is shifting normal now, but it still smells like clutch!

Is my clutch OK? Is it possible it could just be "recovering" from that burnout considering i only put around 15 miles on this car a week?

And you wonder why your "tires" are slipping :SMH:

It has been smelling like Clutch for 2 weeks now and it gave out yesterday after running a couple 1/8 mile runs on a track and now my car will not go into gear easily at all.

I know how to properly launch and i've raced in other cars at this track many times before and never had this problem happen.

These cars were made to be pushed and this should not have happened to it.

Acura's website says that "All Genuine Acura parts are covered under a 1 year/ 12,000 mile warrenty".

They should be forced to fix it for free right?

You don't think my flywheel is bad do you? They replaced that when they did the clutch. Also had them do the updated tranny fluid flush

So let's analyze

You've had this car from like 5X,XXX miles correct?
You're around 56,xxx miles now correct?

So you've driven that car for a safe estimate is 5k miles.

So you didn't break in the clutch correctly, do burn outs, and have seen the track several times nevermind your stupid street races you constantly post.

Those are very very hard driven 5k miles for that car. You beat that car like a red-headed step child (and this is no pun intended).

But you still treat the car good right? LOL!

Didn't you just finally pick up that CT B pipe too? Oh well, more power to you if find that Supra. Just a piece of advice, there will always be another car out there that is more bad ass than yours that you will want. And usually it's a bigger money pit than the previous. I've learned to be satisfied with what I have and keeping an eye out for deals is how I have acquired new cars. Not trying to preach, just being real. I find the CL fun to drive and tastefully mod, so I would also recommend keeping that as your daily.

Off topic, that TT Volvo had me rolling! What I would have paid to see the face on the driver of the M5! Some people have too much time on their hands...

Trust me, I would love to keep my CLS-6 as a daily, unfortunately I need to part ways with it in order to get the Supra by next summer.
