Fall 2005 Navigation DVD update
I'm the proud owner of a '03 6 speed NAVI CL-S w/ 31k miles, and it's got the original navigation DVD. For anyone interested, I definitely plan on purchasing the most recent nav DVD update, but I've done some research and some phone calls to discover that the fall '05 DVD isn't out yet but "should be out before the end of 2005". I don't mind doing the leg work and getting it as soon as it ships, so if you're also interested in getting notified on when it starts shipping, drop me an email and I'll pass on what I learn and when it ships, etc.
Cheers,
Andy

CLS 6MT Navi
They've always been very late with their 'new releases'. Personally I can find a lot of other things for the Acura and not, I'd rather buy for $180.
Congrats on the 6MT, what color? where?

And, yes, I agree that it's highway robbery. However annoying it is to fork over $190 for a piece of plastic for a car that costs some decent $$, tons of stuff in geographical area i'm in isn't up to date on the factory (2002) map data.

I always bought the upgrades when they came out and then quickly threw the old version on EBAY.
They always sell for over 100 bucks which takes a nice bite out of the cost of the new one.
I don’t know why people were willing to pay that, but I didn’t complain.

I upgraded my original 2.05A to 2.11C last year... got two discs for $65... now if someone would be kind enough to make a *ahem* 'backup' of the new one when it comes out I could upgrade again . Oh and I then sold my old one on ebay for $83

Please don’t turn this discussion to pirating NAV DVD’s.
Don’t forget, Acura reads stuff here. We don’t want to get the owners of the site in trouble.

The car has been incredible to drive, and the drive back east was pretty awesome. I'm really psyched about it, and I'm looking forward to closely being involved in this forum. I've already ordered the Blitzsafe iPod/stereo adapter so that should arrive soon -- I plan to make a simple site to document the installation w/ info and pics, etc. I be putting up car pics as well, etc.

Well congratulations if it is dark grey(Anthracite?) I have the same color with black interior and love it! I got mine about 6 months ago. It had 39k on it and got it with the 7year extneded Acura Care bumper to bumper for right around the same. I have had no problems since purchase and have never looked back. I am glad I waited for a 6mt also and I got lucky and a dealership that originally sold the car in 02 had it bought back as a trade in for a RL. It had the window sticker and all in it still. Anyways congrats again, you will love it!
I have never known a dealer to have a dvd update disk as under warrenty but it seems every dealer has a different policy when it comes to what and what is not covered under warrenty hehe.

To any Acura management people reading this: is it that much to throw in the latest DVD? What kind of message does it send to a people paying $20k+ for a car that the engine can fall out and it'll be covered by Acura, but getting a DVD update isn't part of the package? When I have a friend in the car (somone considering buying an Acura someday, I might add), and they look at the nav screen to see that we're in some grey area with no roads and I have to explain that the map data is from 2002, it makes Acura look really pathetic (not to mention cheap!).
In any case, I'll keep this thread up to date w/ any info I learn and when I get the '05 DVD (and report on how it does, etc).

Sweet--the 2006 Nav DVD update (2.3) is now available, and I put in my order today. I'm still sore that they're charging $200 for it, but what can ya do. Hopefully, I should have it in a week, so if anyone has any questions about it when it arrives, I'll do my best to find out and post my findings.

Version 2.30 is nice! (I upgraded from 2.05A). I biggest difference is all the roads and areas that have been updated. If anyone has any questions, let me know and I'll do my best to answer them. Also, I'll be selling my old DVD on ebay, but if anyone here wants it, I'd rather sell to family!

andy- I still have the original (not sure the version- but the car was bought around 8/2000)... Some have said that the original voice is japanese sounding, to which I agree and like. Does the new navi have that same voice? or is it different?
