I havent installed an aftermarket one? I was curious what sets the factory alarm off.. On aftermarkets, its usually the interior light or some type of balancing sensor..
Does anyone know what activates the factory, i dont even think its an alarm just keyless Entry...??

I tried to initiate the alarm by sitting in the car and locking it and then opening the door.. I cannot get it to sound off or anything Am I missing something?

U can upgrade the factory alarm....I know a guy that works for Acura that does side jobs!!!!
I put sensors on my headlights!!!
Around my way they steal HID's in 5 seconds...I've seen it done!!!!

I'm curious as to how much people spent to get their sensors done.

If the alarm is triggered the horn sounds, the flashers activate, and the starter system is disabled.

The LED on the door flashes either slower or faster once the alarm has activated. I can't remember which way it is right now and im not near my car
The LED flashes slowly while the system is arming. It takes 30 seconds exactly to arm. Afterwards, the LED blinks quickly.
Another important tidbit about the factory alarm is that it WILL flash the HIDs (bad, bad design). Do not spend much time testing the alarm as flashing the HIDs can shorten their lives dramatically.

I cant believe honda even did this to us. They should have made the alarm flash the high beams.
The highbeams or just flashers would have been sufficient. Flashing HIDs can result in costly replacements. Very stupid design. I set mine off on accident once and cringed at each flash (there were 3 total flashes) before I could make it stop. They've always said HIDs last the life of the car, but on Acurazine you find lots of early failure threads. If it hasn't got to do with clearing lenses or condensation, I'd almost bet that 99% of seemingly random failures can be traced back to such incidents as prolonged alarm activation or just plain abuse of the HID system. That's right, it's not just a bulb, but a system.

There's a great write up by silverknight in his DIY thread. It's really easy.

The sensors are not expensive at all....
I would suggest having the Acura dealership put them on for you though...
Anywhere will do it....But I suggest the dealership!!!!
Just a suggestion!!

I don't think a dealer will do that. PAA used to do it, but they stoped some time ago. If any place does it some aftermarket stereo/alarm shop would. However, as I said it's a REALLY easy DIY if you look at those instructions.
stock alarm wont help when ur wheeles are touched... but i guess wheel locks will help there, what else is available for takes? lip kit and hid is all i can think of that wont trigger the stocked alarm when its touched
You guys need to move to a lower crime area
Ive never even thought about the need for an alarm. I could leave my car in my driveway unlocked with the keys in it and it would still be there when I went out to use it
The thought of someone stealing wheels never occured to me

Really stock (4x4, etc). The blue in my "fogs" are PIAA's. About the only other thing I've done is upgrade speakers and debadge. Thinking about a CAI.Ya' know, after reading my own post, why would I need to add alarm sensors? Who would want to jack this?
