f*cked up tint job. What Do I Do!?
Ok, so went tinting some place in Costa Mesa today, and they had to cut around the 3rd brake light - no big deal, actually looked ok.
Then i came home...and i realized all their water and liquid leaked INTO the little area of windshield in front of the 3rd brake light, where I can't reach. It looks horrible!!, all those dryed up water lines!!
What do you guys think I can do? Do i have to remove the whole rear dash to get to it and clean?
Is there something I can stick down there to clean it?
Or, do you guys know anywhere in SoCal where they can tint OVER the 3rd brake light and maybe I can just screw these guys and go there?
pissed off.

let me be the one to tell you that taking tints off the window with the defroster is the worst window to remove tints from. . .
damaging the defroster seems highly likely

There are many threads about tinting issues and the rear brake light that have been posted here over the past few years.
I’m surprised you didn’t see them and be sure to find out from the tint guy what he was gonna do before you dropped the car off.
The only way to be SURE it comes out right is to remove the rear seat & rear parcel shelf before they tint.
Not much you can do now.
Either take it off and do it again or live with it.

I had water left over on the C-pillar covers and the rear deck area, but it dried in a couple of hours.
Is the water pooled up by the 3rd brake light? Or is the area just wet? If the latter, leave the windows down overnight (assuming you park it in the garage) and let it dry. Should be fine. If the former, take it back to the shop. You paid for the goods, why should you deal with their screw-up?

I took eveything out before they tinted my car and they covered the third brake light area.
I love it.
You might wanna take it back and have them claen up that area and tint over the third brake light.

if they take the tint off the rear, will it possibly damage the defroster!? that sounds like something bad is waitin to happen.

Adventurist.
Should have reserached the place before going there.
My suggestion has always been Best Window Tinting, Inc. off Jamboree and Edinger. They guarantee their work for life, tint behind the centerlight, and tint to the edges. They're been in business for a very very long time, so they are very good. Plus, you watch them tint your car in a sealed, A/C room through a window while you sit in their lounge.
Take your car back, hopefully they don't mess up what they already did. Good luck.

I’d mention it to them, but give it a few days to judge the overall quality of the look.
Maybe they can piece in a small section of the tint to cover the rear light.
I’d look at doing that before I redid the entire window.
Especially that window with the defroster & radio antenna in there.

When i got my tint done I had wicked bubbles in it. I had a tantrum 'cause the guy that did it was one of my dad's friends. He told me to wait a couple of days and to park in the sun. I did so and the tint turned out to be perfect. He never even touched it. Who woulda guessed?

Is there any way to get the tint off of a rear window without damaging the equipment? Heat gun ,steam? Just curious because it looks like i may have to replace my tint sooner or later.

No scraping at all is recommended on the back glass.
Even a soft rubber spatula could damage the lines if you do it too hard.

Tint Removal
I've had tint removed before..Again, depends on the shop and level of
experience of the guy doing it...I had a perfect job done and no issues /
damage to the defroster lines. They usually bake it off unless times have
changed....I'd check out "Best Tint" or, Dr. Detail in Costa Mesa...He's
been doing this stuff since 82'..and, talk about a bitchen car show!

The installer who did the tint on my CL insisted I go with 20% in the back. I looked at it, and said it sucked. Made him take it off and do 35% ATWO.
My point is, he had to take the 20% off. Defroster lines, radio, etc... If the guy is good, he can remove the film without damaging the back window. And since the film has just been put on... Again, a quality guy can remove it with no problems. Mine did.
