btw more psi does not do much...

ive never bent a rim without first popping a tire. the more psi the more likely those tires pop anyway...

and ive tried every which way.

i live in Canada, with arguably, the worst roads of all of us save for NYC...I never bent my 18s, or my 19s...not once...i did wreck and break a 19, but never bent it...no matter what I hit, or how fast I hit it.

plus you drive your car about 1/4 as often as the average person. try putting 30,000 miles a year on a car without bending a wheel

18s are a waste of effort.

may as well stay stock...

Spoken by the guy who repaired, replaced then finally SOLD his easily damaged 19’s.

I’m still running FINE on my ugly, boring, wasted effort and UN-DAMAGED 18’s. :pfawk:

exactly, the quality of the rim is what makes the difference

It’s both the strength of the Rim and the size/depth of the hazard you’re hitting.
I’ve seen some pretty scary pictures of damaged Rims that I’m sure the strongest design wouldn’t have survived.

Everybody always seems to want the lightest Rim for performance sake, but those are probably the most likely to get damaged.

I got pulled over by the cops last spring for swerving & dodging potholes on one of my local roads that was ripped up from the winter.
There was no traffic coming the other way and I was concentrating on my forward path.
I didn’t notice the copper right behind me.
I guess he thought I was drunk.

No ticket, but he made me sit there while he ran the info.

No rim that I've seen can withstand a shot from a 1ft deep pot hole at 65mph.....shit happens! I guess I'm lucky because (when my 19"s are on) I have a 10 mile round trip each day......from home > to work > to the gym > home again = 9.8 miles.....

I feel your pain, this is the result of falling into a pothole several inches deep that contained a 1+ inch thick sewer grate.

I had to ship three rims out to Texas to get fixed as no one in NY wants to take apart, and work on a real 3 piece rim.
Oh well pimping aint easy.

I will say this, the Toyo t1-S Proxes; despite 3 bent rims, I havent bubbled a single tire. These things grip like glue, have great treadwear, and can really take a beating.
