Talking Extended warranty.

Now that I have owned my 01 CLS almost four years now, I have decided I am not going to get rid of the CL any time soon. So I decided to invest and extend the warranty for another 100K miles! The main reason I extended the warranty was just due to the fact of the glass transmission, but no longer now haha. Any of you other guys have this peace of mind on your CL? Also what is the farthest past 105K one has seen before the TB and WP replaced, and dont scare me cause I know I need to get it done asap. To all acura owners!

You can just go in and pay for an extended warranty like that? How much does it cost?

Yea man, I saw a commercial on T.V. and called the number. Then talked the salesman down alot from what he wanted as a down payment for the contract to start. Covers everything. There are several extended warranty dealers on the internet, check it out.

Haha, my thoughts exactly. There are some legit companies out there, but for a car with that kind of mileage it can be $$$. Good luck to you man!

also how many different contacts do they have

counted 18 phone numbers, 4 faxes, 3 websites, and 5 different names, listed on the BBB page
(that's if all of them are listed)

and if they were ethical they would not have to change there name periodiclly (business was only started in 2002) ( 5 times in 7 years )

Yea, some businesses have a few names, but that amount in that timeframe just doesnt seem right.

Some of the complaints are pretty funny.

So you have 105k now & extended it another 100k, wow. Alls I have ever bought was the extended through Honda motors pushing it from the 60k to 100k. I also plan on keeping mine for a long time so I should buy while the miles are low. Do they ask you about Mods?

Those warranties don't cover shit. Read the actual terms. Unless the specific part that fails is listed, it's not covered. It won't say "the transmission" it will list each and every part covered and chances are they won't list the part that fails or causes the failure. Just went through it with my girlfriend's Jeep. The heater core is covered but the heater core resistor that melted wasn't specifically listed so the problem wasn't covered.

Thank's guys for the important info on BBB. I just canceled my policy, or am trying to. I just got off the phone with the customer service rep, that said in order to cancel I have to send a letter!? Anyway the lady would not let me off the phone, and was determined to keep my business.

it's a warning sign but seriously
also was it on a credit card, cause you could stop payment that way if not too late

They should have a fax number & a guy that processes all that. When I cancelled mine through a different company they had a check/credit back to me within a week for the unused portion.

Haha SG81 that thread was exactly the same sell tactic they used on me! I even made the salesman stay on the phone like 10 min while I thought about it. Finally after he started at like 290 to start the contract, I got em down to 100 to start and 50 a month. I can't believe they scam folks like that. Again thanks for looking out, now all I am worrying about is the money I put out I better get back. And yea it was a credit card, and already processed the payment. I better watch for credit card frad now. Is there any legit extended warranty's out there?

No LEGIT extended warranty will cover a car past a reasonable amount of age and/or mileage. Any company claiming to cover you past 75,000-100,000 miles is bullshit and scamming your money. Simple as that.

Life lesson learned for you.

And good luck getting your money back, I can almost guarantee it will be a pain in the ass to do, if at all. They will make you just want to give up and let them keep the money.

Oh, and this is a scam that has gone on for years. New company comes along offering extended warranties. Make as much money as they can and sign people up to the scam.

After a couple years they fold, close shop and take everyones money. There is no way to get a refund.

There was a huge warranty company that did that a few years back...it was all over the news. I forget the name.

Yeah assuming they're like most warranty companies in that you paid like $3k for it, I'd definitely do whatever I could to get a refund.

I got an extended warranty when I bought my CL at the dealer. I dunno if they only do business through the dealer or what. They do seem like a separate organization... I can at least look into it if you want me to

Yea I called my credit card company, and they said do what the company told me to do. And that is send a letter to cancel, and they will credit my account for the amounts. If not the bank can hold them liable.

I dont know 100% that I am going to put a tracking number on it. I bet it's extra, but it might be worth it. That's what the bank told me is a good idea, cause the warranty co might try to say it has to be recieved in a certain amout of time to get a 100% refund. But one thing is sure im writing that letter and getting it sent out asap. You think I should track it?

Well, I just called stopmyrepairbills, and they said they recieved my cancellation letter. I replied ok, and she said "I was through". I said " what about reinbursment"? She replied, "no we did not recieve the letter of cancellation on time". I was pretty pissed at this time, because I started thinking that if it was not the fact that it took the company almost two weeks to get me the info, I would have canceled earlier! What you guys think?

i had aftermarket warranty that came with the car that i have bought a while ago and A/C compressor went out the repair was like 1200$ with parts and labor but i still had to pay a 600$ for it ... 100$ transfer for my name 100$ deductible... company paid only for compressor and 2h of labor 60$ a hour and my mechanic wanted 85$ so i had to pay the difference all the rest of the parts... i felt screwd but anyway saved me 600 bucks

From: The grande.. Riverdale NJ.. Hopefully moving to skyline village in Lincoln park NJ..yes dirty jersey
I work in the car buesness and I would NOT recomend buying a extended warrenty from a 3rd party company.. Do your research B4 buying it.. They will do anything to get out of paying for it.. I actully had a problem with a customer today that bought a Vette and platinum warrenty and now they are giving him a REALLY hard time with it. I have to have my finance manager call them and push to get the work done.. They will deny EVERY CLAIM u try and make.. Tranny goes, they will say u abused it .. PUt the money u would spend on the warrenty in a seperate bank account and keep that as your tranny fund!

you would be better off just going to a dealer and getting a warranty through them if you want one that bad.

If they let you.
