which exhaust tips?

So my next mod is a custom exhaust, and as most of you know, i like to be different.
i am gonna do an nsx style exhaust, with a single inlet into a dual outlet muffler 2.5", which i have already ordered, but i am stuck on what kind of tips i want. quad tips are really what im leaning towards, but i am open to suggestions.

I do know one thing, i am doing this mod to my tips...
http://www.nsxprime.com/forums/showthread.php?t=145056

i will post pics and vids on here once installed which will be within the next 2 weeks...

Single 4" slant. That's what my HKS' are and it looks AMAZING! It fills the cutouts sooo nicely.

I could see that looking pretty good. Pics?

Without seeing pics of each, I'd have to vote for the quad tips. Having the innermost tips stick out slightly more than the outter ones (similar to the 3G TL-S) would be sick!

The ones that are almost like --> CO ?

Those would also be sweet. I think you'll be able to pull off just about any tips you'd like, since you're doing an exhaust that nobody on here has done before. You're gonna have quite a unique exhaust, so you might as well have some unique tips to match.

That said, I'd count out the square tips, I think they'd look out of place on our cars, especially with the shape of the cutout in the bumper.

+1 for quads

Pics of mine. They sit nicely, don't stick out from the bumper. I can look straight down the bumper and not see the tips.

OakTre, that actually looks sick! Yeah, I don't like when the tips stick out past the bumper.
-I love the way you did your wheels, I'm planning on doing the same when I have time
-mk4 GTI in the back, I see? My car right before my CL was a 2000 VR6 GTI

Aaron- personal opinion again, but I'd say no angle on the tips. It just doesn't look as clean

OH, now I see what you meant by angled! That exhaust would make a bold statement! I wonder how it'd look in our cutouts, though? Or maybe even how the porche CO exhaust would look at an angle?

So many possibilities, man! Ultimately, it's your car, so pick whatever is going to make you smile when you're walking up to the back of your car.

Thanks, it actually came like that when I got it. And they're chipping cause it wasn't done properly. I plan on resurfacing them, previous owner curb checked every wheel, and getting it re-painted, probably powdercoated. And yeah that's my buddies MkIV. Boser front, sitting on s techs, lots of bass lol.

Aaron- personal opinion again, but I'd say no angle on the tips. It just doesn't look as clean

well, after going to the exhaust shop today, the owner said it would look dumb in his opinion to do is-f style tips, but there is enough room to do it.
He said the porsche style or single 4-5" tips would be good.
he said he is gonna make some tips up today and see what i think!!!
either way, my exhaust is gonna be done on friday, and he said its gonna sound real aggressive, but hopefully not raspy. He is gonna start simple and then go up from there if needed.
looks like its gonna be more like a M3 style, rather than NSX...oh well, im hoping for the best

Yeah I was the same way with my exhaust. Glad you said no to 5" tips. That's a little excessive.

its just the guy. Frazees custom Exhaust. Which a lot of people recommended, but whatever....
Ive been dealing with him since Tuesday, and all he end up doing was dicking me around and not making sure my exhaust was right..I threw him a hundred bucks and said I was over it and then left. Now I am gonna have to find someone to fix it. It sounds like a flippin motorcycle or something...

maybe a resonator or glasspack will fix it?

on a positive note, my acceleration feels better, but sounds like a cbr1000 doing it....lol

YEAH IT SOUNDS AS CLOSE TO THAT VIDEO AS POSSIBLE. Crazy as it is, everyone says it sounds awesome to them, but it just doest fit the car. i couldnt imagine having a high flow cat too, it would be dumb loud...

I just blacked out all of the muffler and piping, and now its cleaner looking.
gonna torch the tips this week and see how that is..
Trying to make the best of it, just like i do with everything on this car...lol

A resonator wont rob much performance, if any. They are not like mufflers with different chambers that the exhaust has to pass through. They are a straight through design with a baffle to absorb some of the sound waves.

well, took my tips off to torch them, and to my surprise, my exhaust soungs waaaay better with them off...
the tips are resonated tips, and they were the culprit to the higher pitchy sound that was also raspy. Now its deeper at idle and quieter at lower rpms, but louder at high rpms but at a more pleasant tone.
Its still very aggressive though.
now i gotta get some different tips again...lol

The resonated tips have an almost-stock look..

But heck yeah put some new tips on there, burn them hoes, and take some pics&vids for us!

Oh, and I'm not sure if anyone has asked yet, but how much has all this cost you? And is it much more than a regular custom-made exhaust?

Quick Reply: which exhaust tips?
