Which exhaust for cls 6mt

Hey guys, I've tried searching but can't seem to find the info I'm looking for. Bottom line is I have a 03 cls 6mt and I'm looking to get exhaust. Right now I'm looking at greddy evo2 or comptech.....but I can't seem to find the differences i.e. price, gains and sound. From what I've seen I think I like the sound of the axleback better but and advice here would be much appreciated. Thanks

catback will give you like 1 horsepower so it's not really worth it. Headers for ~20 hp and axleback for sound. Comptech headers might give you 5 more hp than ss autochrome (search). axleback is all preference. People have had good luck with magnaflows for cheap...

The only setup made for a CLS now days is Comptech. Everything else has been discontinued. You may find something that hasn't sold out yet however.

Anything else is a custom job. Maganflows, flowmaster etc.

my buddy has ct axlebacks on his tl-s, they do sound good. Not overly loud or anything but a nice growl when you get on it. too much $ for me though, plus I like the aggressiveness the magnaflows give.

Actually the only company that is still making catbacks is Tanabe. On a catback you should make about 5 HP since the stock exhaust is pretty free flowing. It's mostly for sound and appearance (stainless steel construction (also functional won't rust), attractive muffler).

Comptech does still have the axlebacks.

If you need any of those parts let me know. We actually just brought the Tanabe catback back in stock the other day.

Does Tanabe still make that? Part #T4074Z. A friend tried to get 1 from a reseller & they said it was discontinued.
If you have them I'll point him to you.

IMO, I would go with the Magnaflow replacement mufflers, and a set of headers. Do a search on magnaflow, there are several different styles that fit nicely, its all about what tip you like best. I never could understand why anyone would put a big fart can like the Greddy Evo 2, on a car like an Acura CL. Its a luxury car with power and comfort, not a civic or other sport compact.

i'd like to see that dyno. my greddy mx has a single/dual exhaust option and came with a Y pipe and a L pipe. yesterday i switched it to single exit. has the same sound tone but just a little bit louder, and also has some mean occasional backfires. you pretty much cant even tell. i may have lost a couple lbs of torque on the butt dyno but i can tell there is more power between 5.5-redline. i may leave it single exit if i end up liking it more.
