Ernie-Proof CLS
Ernie-Proof CLS
I just wanted to say amongst all the complaints about the CLS that I need to give this car credit. I just rolled over to 50k on the odometer and this engine still feels like day one. Why am I soo impressed? Well, here is my track record:
1994 Chevy Tahoe Edition S-10
Blew the original 2.3 liter V6 in it after 23K miles. Replaced it with V8 and wore that out by 70K
1996 Eclipse GSX AWD Turbo
New engine after 40K miles
New clutch after 60K miles
New tranny after 60K miles
Engine rebuilt after 80K miles
2001 Acura CL-S
New tranny (but remarkably not 100% due to my driving skills)
Make no bones about it, if anyone is to say that the engine in this car is near bulletproof it's me. It's basically a guarantee that every day I drive this car I give it one hell of a workout. I floor it, drop it in 2nd' at 65mph, rip it around turns and generally get 110% of the fun out of it.
So, in short, hat's off to the 3.2 Engine in our cars the tranny may blow but the engine doesn't suck
