Engine tick / possible exhaust leak?

Engine tick / possible exhaust leak?
First off, thankyou for any and all feedback. I really appreciate it.
So picked my 03 six speed up 2 weeks ago. Took it to the dealer after 3 days so they could fix the brakes (lil wobbly)
Anyway, I asked them about an engine tick i have been hearing as well. Im guessing either a lifter or rocker tick, or some sort of exhaust / header leak. Are any of those common issues that i should definately have checked out.
The car has 48 K on it, and is covered until extended warranty until 100K.
The idiots at the dealership told me it was normal, but I know that its not exactly normal for engine to tick. I may change the oil next week to see if that takes it away.

how loud a tick is it?? because injectors will tick thats just them opening and closing but they just sound like a large clock on speed anything louder and it might be abnormal. do you check your oil regularly?? if its low due to oil consumption thatll make it tick too

This has been discussed many times...
If you have ticking at idle - IACV - Idle Air Control Valve is bad
If you have ticking while accelerating - valve adjustment

The IACV isn't the cause of the ticking. The IACV, when it's dirty causes the rpm to fluctuate at idle.
Ticking at idle is more than likely the purge control solenoid or the fuel injectors. They both make a fair amount of noise BUT it is totally normal. The tech was correct.
If you are truly annoyed of the purge control solenoid, you can purchase a new one but there is no guarantee that the noise will not occur again in a while.

Back to a MT!
Ya, I think i will be replacing that purge control solenoid soon, The ticking is just plain loud. My dad has a TL-S with double the miles I have and his is much quieter. I had my valves adjusted and it didn't help alot. I really listened to it and you would think that if it was valves the ticking with speed up and slow down with rpms, but its pretty much constant. I don't know much about the purge control solenoid, but I would have to guess it doesnt' fluctuate with rpm....but I could be wrong....I will have to see

thanks for the info guys, i knew that it was possible the tick would be normal... its not really that loud, just kind of bizarre. i thought an 03 acura would be devoid of simple flaws like that but no car is perfect. its about as close as can be though

Okay, I'll ask - flame away!
Copy: tick at idle = Purge Control Valve or injectors
Tick while accelerating = valves
How about: no tick at idle, tick at just above idle, no tick while accelerating?
I drive really slow in my apt parking lot (lots of kids) - with my foot just barely on the gas and I hear the ticking, but at anything above that (normal driving or normal/hard acceleration) I hear no ticking. No ticking at idle either.
I'm guessing probably the PCV. Any other guesses?

Depends where the ticking is

I know people swear by different types of oil, but I think you are better served to pick one oil and stick with it.
Different brands of oil use different types of additives, and the additives from one brand may not react well to the additives from another.
I'm not saying never change your brand of oil; I'm just saying don't shop around and try 5 different kinds of oil in your car. Odds are you will do more harm than good.
