I was driving home from a friends house about a week ago when my engine started jumping from less than 1k to 3000k rpms. I talked to a shop and they said it was more than likely a sensor that needed to be replaced. Anyone else run into this problem? Im getting so sick all the crap that goes wrong with my damn CL.. four trannies and now this shit.. Atleast I dont have to worry about huge pot holes gown here in FL.
It's easy. First try to clean the IAC valve. Use a cleaner like gumout or similar product used to clean carbon buildup. Less then $5 at any auto parts store. It's the the sensor under the TB. It gets junked up & causes this problem. It's very common. If the cleaning doesn't work you can replace it. A new 1 is about $80 & it's very easy to replace.
how do you locate the IAC valve? pictures would be helpful. my engine has also been ideling weird. it pulses from 750 to 500 and back to 750 about every few seconds. when it drops to 500 the engine seem to run rough. but it does go back to about 1k when i shift it to neutral. could it be the auto tranny?
