Engine humming

So I dropped in a k&n panel filter today and just wanted to clarify something. I expected more noise from the intake, but should the engine be humming now? Definitely wasn't doing that before I put the filter in. Its a low him, but noticeable. Any input is appreciated

I had the same issue recently when replacing the stock filter with a new one - very noticeable (and annoying) low hum. So its not necessarily the k&n. Make the sure the filter is oriented correctly and fully seated in the air box....or simply replace the whole mess with a CAI...

Make sure all your screws are tight, had the same problem before but found out the clamp and screws were not tight enough

^Yep. Everything seems to be together and tight but in fact it's not and leaking.

CL-S, the hum is most noticeable at idle when you're outside the vehicle. In my case, it was not subtle. It was bordering on Holy Crap, What's That territory.

I only removed the two screws closest to the drivers side fender, lifted it up, switched them out, and re-tightened the screws. It is very noticeable at idle, especially loud when you open the hood. Sounds like a vacuum, I just wanted to see if this was normal. I don't see how I could've possibly screwed it up just by doing the process I did. If it comes down to it, I may remove it and sell it, not a fan of the noise

everyone's definition of a sound is different.. so the hum u think u have... some may hear ur car and tell u ur nuts.

but u are comparing it to before. so u gotta keep that in mind.

my guess is u are beating a dead horse...

did u crack anything? did u replace the screws properly? did u install it right side up? if yes.. stop doubting urself
