Ebay Trunk lips. Any good?

I want to get a M5 style trunk lip for my car and I see these painted ones on ebay for a really low price and I'm wondering are they worth getting?

Spend an extra $100 for OEM or find a genuine used OEM one.

A genuine Acura one or a BMW M5 one that was molded for the CL? Reason I'm looking at these is that I cannot justify spending over $100 for something as small as these trunk lips.

An m5. Check out bimmerforums, maybe you can find one cheap and paint it or wait for a member here to sell one. Or buy the eBay one...so cheap its not much loss I guess. I'd say spend your money right the first time and buy a genuine OEM one.

probably the worst advice. who cares if it's OEM bmw, you're putting it on an acura. almost everyone on this forum has used the cheapo ebay ones, that come paint matched to your own paint. i don't see any bmw dealers paint matching to honda paint.

they are flexible and you just need to line it up properly and buy the right length.

ok no need to be an a-hole about it. from so many other posts, people warn others about the cheap quality materials used on 'ebay kits', along with various fitment issues. if it's so wrong to advise someone spend a little more now, for a higher quality product that works right the first time, then I guess that is some bad advice. No questions, the m5 lip works, that's why you should care...and if you can get it on a discount, you won't have to deal with ebay sales that are hit or miss.

The only difference I noticed is that the OEM M5 E39 lip (which is what AustinTaper is using) is bang on flush with the trunk. Whereas the people that used the ebay ones is always a bit short at the ends which looks cheap.

Id stay away from the ebay lip. They arent fiberglass and over time they shrink. Just ask swoosh about his roof spoiler, its the same material.

I got one in early 2007 from "delsa-motorsports," according to my order receipt, that is still holding up fine and has not detached/shrunk. Total was $65 shipped from Canada and painted back then.

No offense Indian, but the lip is short an inch on each end, doesn't even fit right. That's reason enough to spend a little extra.

Yeah that actually bugs me a lot. I'm probably just going to wait a bit for that spoiler then. I want it flush, not short like that.

I agree with Civicdrv(Morgan)....

my roof spoiler has shrunk but no one else has experienced that problem....I was test fitting the piece for the manufacturer and the length was a tad bit off and now the gap is even bigger....

bmwoemshop on ebay has decent quality products....but their paint match is amazing...

I bought a $30 off ebay about 8 years ago, had it painted and put it on... It's a perfect length. The 3M tape is starting to let loose a bit, but it's taken 8 years of FL sun. Just make sure its an M5 as the M3 lips are a little shorter.

You can MEASURE your trunklid and most of the ebay sellers will have the exact length you need. This isnt a fiberglass body kit vs oem kit as far as fitment goes. I paid less than 30 bucks for one unpainted and it fit perfectly and hasnt shrunk.

So make sure it's M5 and its good? Do you have pictures of it or a link for it?
