wet burnout=smoking the tires so they heat up and gain traction. Start in the burnout box with the water and smoke them until they get nice and warm then race.

If you really believe your tires work better wet than dry, you should get Lloyds of London to insure the tires until the engineers at the various auto firms can get over to your test track... :P :P

Yes, I got that... but that's not what he said.
"Scooter" said, "keep in mind the Pilot Sport A/S's have better performance when they're wet than dry"
IMO, all-season rubber should NOT be going into the water for burnouts...

and in my personal experiences, i've gotton better traction in wet weather than dry when i WOT...so what's Lloyd's of London's phone number???

Hey guys!!!!!
Had an awesome time on Saturday. It was great meeting all of you, you're all a great group of people and I can't wait to do this again. We will definately have to meet up in March for the Honda event at etown.
The weather definately sucked and the track was way slick. My best run was a 9.747. But I must say it was a sweet victory - I dialed in at 9.8 and ran a 9.82

Shibby - it was nice to meet you too. I must say I was very impressed with your consistancy... good show .
I'm also proud to have lost to you in the second round (Blue TL-S). Of course I ran my fasted time of the day and broke my dial-in... but that just makes it more impressive b/c I couldn't be consitstant in an auto.....

It was great time running at the track and linking faces to the names on this board. Can't wait to do it again.
Yeah, all the Type-S pretty much get a car length or so on me at launch. At speed, I pretty much accelerate at the same pace so I can't really pull on any of them. That's why a type-S cam swap sounds so much more attractive to me now.
I wish there was a non-SC 3.0 to run against.
Did all you guys brake-torque your cars at the start?
I didn't on any of them and I notice between the time I step on the pedal and the time the car actually gets going, there is a bout a 1-sec lag (~1000rpm rev).

probably a 14.9ish. The guy on stangnet with that hideous yellow mustang i kept making fun of said some of us were running respectable times so at least they didn't start an internet war.

Hey RobG remember you were telling me about the Camaro SS well unfortunately I went up against one of them for my last run. These are his numbers:
R/T....683
60'...2.044
330...5.552
1/8...8.401
MPH...85.94
I made the equation and that calculates to 0-60 in 4.06. Wow!!

geez, first OBX vs. CT, now CL's vs. Stangs...these fights r too old...we need new fights!!!
after looking at my old slips and comparing 1/8's, im EXTREMELY shocked...my older 1/8's were in the 9.5 - 9.7 territory, and back then, i was just breaking into 14's, so 9.8's+ and up are around low 15's...in the frigid cold, windy air, u would think better times...the track was simply too slick for my tires

That's cool about that Mustang. Everyone there who wasn't with us seemed pretty cool..... I didn't see anyone really messing around or calling us names like ricers or anything. It's good to see that type of friendliness....

there's always mutual respect at the track, even when you get those loud fart cans that run 16's, people still dont say anything. It really is a good thing that you can go somewhere with american muscle and get along without having verbal arguments about "who's better"

Yea Scooter I know you guys were having traction problems but I was not and still couldn't break 9.5.:thumbsdn: maybe I need headers cause I feel like the car jumps off the line but it boggs down in the higher rpm range. My next oil change Im switching to the 5w20 like the manual says maybe thats what is keeping my car slow.

Doug: I am always down for a friendly race. I live pretty much by the center of Danbury. I only have my CLS up here (the Maxima is with my parents in Queens). Not sure what your Maxima runs, but it should be a fun race. PM me if you want to meet up sometime

Notice the 'T04e' in his sig?
BTW to the guy who asked, 9.881 in the 1/8th translates to between 15.3 and 15.5 in the 1/4 mile. The conversion is (1/8th time) x 1.56 = 1/4 time. You can use 1.55 to be a little optimistic, and 1.57 to be a little pessimistic.

I weighed my car with the spare tire, jack and Kicker Amp, which must weigh at least 25-pounds still installed.
Not to mention I weigh about 50lbs more then Scooter.
With a 1/4 tank of gas and me in it, it weighted 3624 pounds.
I guess the headers are good for a 25 pound or more advantage though.

I just guessed on the 25-pounds though, but I bet it's pretty close to that.

The only thing I'd suggest is that you might want to spin them through a couple of times to clean any trash off of your tires. But not a burn out.

quick spins are usuall enough to heat those types of tires up anyway. On the other hand i had to sit there for about 10-15 seconds and burnout my drag radials which didn't really make that much of a difference

CL-S 6speed faster thatn 540 auto
I was at E-Town that day and the best I could run was 9.3sec/75.71 mph. My 540 is completely stock and it was my first ever day at the track. Damn. I should've kept my TL-S and mod it. Still I think I can beat TL/CLS Acuras at higher (100+ mph) speeds.
