E-Town Results (OBX Headers - Suprise!)
WARNING... LONG POST
Just got back from the Acura Wars at E-Town Raceway this morning/afternoon. I had a great time, and it was really great to meet many of you from the board (JuniorBean, Zapata, Shawn, Lou, RobG, etc.) It was only the 1/8 mile due to winds, but fun nonetheless
After my results hopefully some of you will give OBX headers some respect. (I told the guys that I HAD to post my results on the board)
Started off (first time I ever went to the track) and just floored it in D5. Smoked my tires the ENTIRE 1/8 Mile. Probably lost about 5k miles of threads. The announcer actually went on the MIC - WOOOOAH!! Front Wheel Drive! - Ended up with an 11.5
Second run against a black NSX. He DESTROYED me off the line, but once I caught traction, I started pulling on him a little. He got a 9.0 and I got a 9.9 or so. He pulled over after and said he got REALLY scared at how I started closing in. He said he really respects our cars. (really cool guy too)
Finally got to the elimination competition. BTW, I have an auto, OBX Headers, stock rims and the crappy stock Michelin tires, (with 25k miles on them) and a Weapon-R short ram intake.
To make it short, I started with a 9.50 and got to the final 3. Beat a supercharged 3.0 CL and last round went against a girl in a blue RSX-S (she ended up winning the competition). I was the only CL left at this point. I got a 9.31, she got a 9.89 but I lost due to the fact that I was significantly faster than my 9.5 Dial.
Overall, I am VERY impressed running a 9.3 with an auto with only Headers, short ram and stock tires/rims. I THINK I ended up 3rd fastest of all the Acura's... NSX had a 8.9, I am RobG had a 9.0 (great runs), and I had a 9.3. I am guessing this is approx a 14.4 in the 1/4. Most of the 6 speeds were running ~9.6
So... In conclusion, OBX headers definitely bring significant gains (or my CL is on steroids or something)....
BTW... A 6 speed 02 Maxima (with intake)could not pull below a 9.7

nice times!
Well, for a little comparison, on Friday I did a 9.438 @76.79mph 1/8 and ended up with a 14.544, and all i have is an intake. the temp was 50 though.
what was your 60ft times?

It was cold (I think 48 degrees?), but the wind was really bad, and there was NO traction. Most of the CL's did higher 9's around the 9.6 level. The RSX's on average were 9.8-10.5 and the TL's were around 10 sec...
Here's my timeslip since I don't have a scanner:
R/T: 1.137
60': 2.299
1/8: 9.318
MPH: 78.33

I don't get it? Why 1/8 mile? The racing standard is 1/4 mile.

I just hope this proves to all the nay-sayers that the OBX gains are real...
Rob's 9 second run was impressive. I am sure they will have much more info on it in a later thread... He actually would have taken the NSX in that run

at the end of 1/8, what gear and rpm are you at?
The 11.5 was more of a joke run. I consider the 9.9 against the NSX a more true run. But going from 9.9 - 9.3 is still impressive.
For the 11.5, it was my first time ever at the track, and I just mashed the gas with cold tires. I smoked the tires, and I knew I was going nowhere, so I decided to put on a show. I actually was able to spin out the entire 1/8th... For some reason my car kept bouncing off the limiter.. I had it in D5 too... Strange.. But most of the guys watching said it was really cool looking
I wish someone got it on video

Just that I remember some people were saying that due to the poor quality and the smaller ports, the gains might be less than Comptech. I just wanted to let you guys know that I was pretty impressed with how I did. Sorry.. just a little excited

Ah... I guess... some one is still doubting my dyno... there is a new fresh dyno for the OBX headers... Mantis

why do the hp and torque cross at 6400 rpm :o

Whats up Cusdaddy....damn right those headers are real I beat him off the line but I saw his car closing in and he had faster trap speed. I was running consistent 9.5 all day except for two runs so out of curiosity I raced cusdaddy I knew immediately his car was pulling harder. All I got to say is I know what I want for Christmas. Good shit

Whats up everybody, yeah i'm definitely psyched i ran a 9.0
Since i dont have a scanner here's the info
R/T-.841
60-2.219
330-5.964
1/8-9.030
MPH-79.30
I'm assuming this turns into about a 14.0 1/4
Everybody was having a great day, lou and cusdaddy both had great runs, shibby took first, scooter and shawn had great runs, high 9's, it was a great fuckin day, good turnout except that a couple of us got sick from the fridays.

Different HP and TQ scales...
See right- and left-Y axis scales -- they are different...
I didn't blow the graphic image up ... but ...

I have no problem with the high curve (+ Headers)
There was something pretty messed-up with the "baseline" HP figure...
AS to what

Not bad for my first time ever at the track.
My goals for the day were:
A) No RED lights
B) Don’t STALL the car
C) Don’t go home on the back of a wrecker
I accomplished all of those.
Hell of a time getting traction and this was my first time ever running any car at the track.
My first run was a 10.38 and I got progressively better reaction times and quicker runs.
Shifted into 2nd and the front end went WILD LOOSE like I was racing on snow.
With a little clutch burning and easing into second I was able to control the spinning somewhat by reducing power.
I didn’t want to beat on the car too bad.
My Falken’s are really sticky and if I applied the power off the line too quick the tires HOPPED like a son-of-a-bitch.
I look forward to hitting the track again in the springtime.
I feel I would have done MUCH better in the ¼-mile because the car pulled really strong once the tires hooked up.
I’m guessing my ¼-mile time would have been mid to high 14’s.
I didn’t do any weight reduction to the car besides removing the SubWoofer box and I’m a big guy 250+ so I’m sure that didn’t help too much either.

Hey Lou. Great meeting you! You had many great runs. You have a REALLY strong stock CL. Definitely with Headers, you'll be low 14's easily (at least in nice cool weather). You really killed me off the line that one we ran. I finally (later) learned how to launch my car a little better, so that's when I hit the 9.3. With your launch and the top end of headers, you'll be REALLY quick.
Rob had some great runs. Way above what the rest of us were running. Very impressive for a N/A CLS
Overall, a great time. Great meeting all of you!

Shawn... Great run against the 6-speed '02 Maxima! With a little more traction (too much wheel hop off the line) you would have had him easily

The TLS with comptech headers dynoed at 215, I wonder if the 19s had anything to with my lower HP rating.
Anyway, I'm done hijacking this thread.
Nice run cusdaddy!

Just wanted to say that despite the cold weather freezing my ears off, I had a great time meeting everyone that showed up. Too bad we couldn't do 1/4mile runs cause the 1/8 is just way too short of a ride. Definately looking forward to doing more runs in the spring.
I do have to say, OBX rocked today.

Ugh, Well I've figured out that Michelen Pilot Sport A/S are NOT and I repeat NOT the tires to have for the drag strip if your car has any time of power whatsoever. I could not get the tires to hook up at all!!!! As result my best 60'ft time was 2.7!!!!
I was able to see that RobG and ShawnS both had hydraulics on their cars
Techniques of launching:
1st run- Rev to 1.5k and slip the clutch
2nd run- Rev to 2k and slip the clutch
3rd run- Rev to 3k and slip the clutch
There was NO and i mean NO grip to be had. How do i know??? NO wheel hop and i could BARELY feel the LSD. I've had other occasions where I 've been on slippery surfaces and then had the LSD work.....crazy bouncing and shit. I had no wheel hop at all. No grip, No grip, lemme say it one more time NO GRIP.
I had a great time nonethelss. Got to meet an bunch of people. ClubRSX people are cool as hell. We really need to have more events with them.
I also had a chance to weigh my car.
Car w/o passenger- 3390
Car w/ passenger-3601 or so
BTW,
I have video of alot of the event. I don't have the eliminations but pretty much everything before that so once i can get that digitized I'll be cutting it to DVD

just out of curiosity, what direction was the wind blowing? Was it blowing the same direction you were racing, against you, or just across you. Thanks. Good times BTW!

Hey guys, had a great time at the track, can't wait to do it again! Weren't too many TLs around but was still great to meet some of you guys.
My first time at the track, running completely stock, 5800 miles on the car.
Here's my best time:
R/T - 1.266 (I know, sucks)
60' - 2.325
330 - 6.384
1/8 - 9.697
MPH - 74.04
Was racing against another black TL that had rims, and from what his friend told me, headers/intake and he got a 9.570 that run ... I figured that wasn't too bad considering I was 100% stock. Anyone know what that translates into roughly for the 1/4 time? Hope to go back to the track next time with some mods!

4pumped,
It was a NASTY crosswind.
LiQiCE,
Mad props for rolling up from all the way in Va. !! 9.6 translates into high 14's. Not bad for bone stock TLS

Hmmmm... I had better luck with mine I guess... the track was a little damp even and I could get 2.4s and 2.3s. And that was my first time and tire pressure was left stock 33F/33R...
Maybe the track conditions sucked??? Granted the Pilot A/Ss aren't the stickiest tires in the world, but you should be able to achieve better 60fts than a 2.7.
Keep trying!!!

great time at the track- good to see everyone!
chool bunch of peeps from the ClubRSX
and I agree, we should do more meets with them.
To bad it was 1/8mile runs, we made the best of it though.
Some of the magic to an almost stock CLS that I set up during the week paid off with my best run @ 9.40 1/8th mile at 76.03mph. Unfortunately I could not stay to compete in the final 4 eliminations.

You are correct in saying that the track conditions were terrible. Yesterday was the last day of the season so the track had about 8ft of rubber built up. RSX people with certain tires just did not fair well. ShawnS(falken) and RobG(nitto drag radial), had massive wheel hop so i know that they were getting enough track. Rob was able to warm up the drag radials enough so he had the right amount of spin. ShawnS had massive wheel hop but was able to get in control by letting off the throttle.
My tire pressure was 51 in the back and 36 in the front. No matter what I've done to adjust the pressure.....can't hook-up at englishtown.
Yeah on the roads these tires are very nice. But I've now been to the track 3 times with these tires, 2x with the automatic and 1x with the MT.
