Dyno'd my car today!!!
Dyno'd my car today!!!
completely stock 01 Type-S with 5 spd auto with 56300 on the odometer, runnin Mobil 1 10w-30, approx. ambient 50-55 degrees
run 1 - HP: 199.5 TQ: 178.1
run 2 - HP: 202.1 TQ: 184.8
run 3 - HP: 205.5 TQ: 186.5
run 4 - HP: 207.5 TQ: 185.9
I think these numbers are pretty strong for bein a stock car, when taking into account drivetrain loss and such. What numbers are others seen'?
I think my first mod will prob be a header most likely the OBX unit mostly because of price, has there been any comparison reports between the OBX and Comptech header? whether one or the other has better flow characteristics?

My modded '03 CLS 6sp (with CT intake/headers/b-pipe/exhaust) dyno'd at CompTech with 236 WHP and 201 lbs. Tq. running Pilot Sport A/S 225/50ZR17s on stock rims. Ambient temp was between 55-60 degrees. CompTech said that the crank HP was probably between 300 to 307.
Do the mods... I'd do the intake and headers together first. You'll see a lot more gains with both since they compliment each other.
There's no way you have 300hp at the crank. A 70hp loss would be a slipping automatic, not a fwd manual transmssion. To find out what the engine is making all you have to do it take your dyno numbers and divide them by .85 (6 speed) or .77 (auto).

And btw, you say it has 23% parasitic loss, I say divide by .77, does that SEEM like the same thing to you?

I have always been told 15% for manual transmissions, and also consider that fwd's are a little more efficient than rwd so it's going to be a little less the standard for rwd.
A stock 6 speed shold in theory put down 221hp/197tq, which is pretty inline with what most people pull.
