Dyno Results Comptech Icebox - You aren't going to belive this!! Trust me it's good!
Ok, as most of you know i said i didn't gain much power after the install, but while i was on the phone with comptech i realized something!
I was only looking at my peak power performance,
NOT WHAT MY PEAK PERFORMANCE GAIN WAS!!!
Hold on to your pants cuz ur about to shyt bricks!
I gained about 16 ft-lbs of torque at 3500 rpm
and i gained about 16 hp at 4500 rpm!!!!
i haven't had a chance to analyze the entire graph, but i'll do that soon, and you'll be able to see them for yourselves pretty soon too!!!
I'll put them right here in the first thread, so check back every once in a while

So none of you guys are getting 12-16 Ponies from your AEM or Injen intake?
Whats the big hype about?... I thought the Comptech one was suppose to produce around 15 HP...

Smitty:
back in the day, the Xephyr getting 10hp was like very impressive...most people with the X and AEM were hovering around 8hp
the 12 - 16hp range i think is a little too high...maybe to the crank yer talkin bout
EDIT: AEM's website has automatic CLS max gain at 15hp to the wheels, while not quite 10hp for the manual CLS

Congrats. The gains you showed are about what comptech dynod at as well. The ice box will provide more mid-range power than AEM/INJEN and the fact you see your gains at 3500/4500 confirms the design.
However, i don't want to jump to any conclusions here. Let's take a look at that dyno. You shold also post your stock dyno as well.

The design of the box. The gains low and high will be about the same as INJEN/AEM but mid-range is where the ice box design will shine.

16hp for a header sounds more feasible

slrskal do you have headers cause with them you might get even more cause the more air in the freer your out should be. Ice-box, Headers and b-pipe with exhaust would make an ideal steup.

do you know what 16 lbs. of torque dude that is too much from an intake thats unheard of this should be in the magazines. I don't want to ruin you parade but 16 lbs. of torque Comptech advertised 15 hp and 8 lbs. of torque. thats double damn they really did do their homework Im glad they made us wait 4 months
and at 3500 rpm thats where our cars are lacking also cause we have best top end this is too good to be true. Im sorry but I gonna have to see it to believe it.

have any of you doubters ever even looked at the stock intake system? when i installed my CAI into my TL-P i was shocked at how restrictive the stock system is. he is saying his peak GAIN not peak POWER is that high, when you look at the stock system, and take into account the icebox design is supposed to give better low-mid gains compared to other CAI's i really dont find it all that amazing, but rather a great mod

I think its very possable to get these gains in power. Take [just for an example] a 400hp 3.2 v6, with stock exuast. Switching to a good exaust could easly net another 50-75hp with that motor. So if the stock intake is poorly designed for power production in the lower RPM [which it is, these are higher rpm motors] then these gains are possable.
WE NEED THE DYNOGRAPH!!!!!!!!!

Is this available for the 5 speed AT's or just the 6 MT ?
