Question During my DIY adventure

I found this on the inside of my door panel:





What the hell is this for? Molded on the inside it says something about protecting something, but there is nothing there, behind it, inside it, around it or near it.

Gurus?

its used to brace your inner door panel, in case some leans on it with their leg or such so it doesnt crush in
