dumb question about perfect shifting

I have a dumb question about shifting..
what is the perfect time for shifting? 6MT

are you asking about perfect for fuel efficiency or performance?

Perfect time to shift.

you should shift everytime at 6999 rpm's...

fuel cut is at 7200. you pull in every gear to fuel cut. even though your power is 'dropping' it is still netting higher than the next higher gear due to multiplication of gears.

if you're talking about fuel economy, i shift at 2200

Yeah shift right before the needle on the tach bounces back. Ive brought it past a few times and felt like an idiot... It just takes good timing and doing it a lot to know the exact point... Sometimes I shift by just sound and not even looking at the tach.

I find it hard sometimes to shift by sound. I don't take my car over 5200-5300rpms ever in the city but twice passing hard on the highway I thought I felt more power and the rev limiter kicked. I watch the tach religiously now if I shift that high.

i'd say at 6900 right as its about to redline. i shift by timing. i never look at the tach unless im going all out smashing..
