Drove a 348 today!!
So today after work, one of my co-workers gives me a ride home. On the way to my house he pulls over at his brother-in-law's car dealership. He deals mostly with exotics (used)....he had some crazy a&# rides on the lot...a 911 Turbo, Viper RT/10, even an Aston Martin.... We pass by the detailing bay and I get my eyes on a used Ferrari 348TB....the car was dirty as hell, but I thought...Hey, let me try my luck and ask for a spin around the block!
before I even asked, my co-worker hooked it up...I had the hot Ferrari keys in my hand. We took it out on the highway and let her rip...if you thought the CLS was somewhat fast, you haven't been in one of these babies
I hit 70MPH in 2nd gear...no prob..the engine sound is something else..
Now I'm thinking....Should I trade in my CL-S (and everything else I own) and just buy a used Ferrari
?
Here's the pic from the dealership!

IMHO - I'll do the trade in a sec. No second thoughts, no hard feelings
Then at the end of the year I'd buy CLS with manual tranny.

How much?
thats actually my fav ferrari. its not too over the top, really good exterior. the prices for them online are somewhat reasonable, anywhere from 30's to 60's... depending on miles and contition.
i mean, the 360 is great, but still 150K +...

Twice the price of a new CL-S...for a 9 yr old 384......ummmmm......

Although, i hear their a bitch to keep up. fragile, and expencive to maintain.
f-it, i'd get it anyway.
yeah , buying one is always the easier part. Maintaing them is a nightmare. I mean like the 15,000 mile service is around 5-10K and yes you do this every 15,000 miles. Plus I think 30,60,90K miles ones are even more.
But the thrill is amazing, I drve a 328 and a testarossa once and WAAAOOOHHHHH!!!!!

Stock for now.
I had a chance to buy an 86 Porsche 928S for a song two years ago, but I decided against it after doing some research on what the maintenance would cost.
The thing was SWEET and I could have bought it for like 15K, but I passed.

I like the 348 and the 355. The 360 is kind of funny looking. Maybe a dumb question
but why is maintenance so expensive. 5-10k for 15,000 mi is rediculous.

There was a post a couple of weeks ago about a guy's Bentley that blew up and he had to ship it back to the UK...
[This message has been edited by SpeedyRonin (edited 05-26-2001).]
The issue was with a $360k 00 Rolls Corniche Conv....a tech took it to a gas station and the car went up in flames, they shipped it back to Crewe to investigate why it happened.
The 348 isn't a very good Ferrari (engine and paint work to be more specific), thats why they dropped so quickly on resale over the years....where the 355's are holding fairly strong, not to mention the 360 is still extremely expensive (used and new).
A 355 will still look amazing in 5 years, where the 348 does nothing for me....didn't age well at all IMO.
The one thing they all have in common...Status and a great exhaust note.
